Ivan, there is a really cool, weird, shadowbox/kabuki/puppet show quality to these videos that is mesmerizing.
The band sounds great!
I hope you come to the Summit and see them perform live and in person. You'll be so glad you did.

Noel,
I hope we can make it out as well, not only to see The Madeira but to see all the other bands as well as meet you in person.

There's a surf scene in Cincy? I need to keep track of that and make some gigs.

hey davis
We've had some great surf shows in Cincy and near by Oxford too. You need to tune in online to the Rockin and Surfin Show Saturday nights on WAIF FM 88.3 for info on these shows. There are 5 or 6 local bands and more around the area..even Dayton, Indy and Lexington. Out of town bands come here as well..Madeira..Cocktail Preachers..Roger and the Wraybands..Volcanos..Daikaiju
You can always check on here too.
These videos were from last fall's Halloween Show at the newly reopened Southgate House in Newport Ky with 4 bands that night.
Hope to see you one of these days.

You can check Cincinnati's surf godfathers the Maladroits this Friday the 22 at the Southgate House. I think they start at 9-9:30

Cincy has some dedicated surf fans, I've always had a good time there. If it wasn't an overnight trip for my band, I would like to play there more often. Other bands have been pretty accomodating.

Thanks so much, CrazyAces, glad you liked the videos - they're definitely... different. I hope you'll make it to the Instro Summit, it would e great to meet you in person.
And thanks EJ - and congrats on the newborn!
David, there's indeed a very vital surf scene in Cincy! Many bands, including the great AmpFibians! I hope you'll check it out. As Steve said, a bunch of us that are a few hours away try to make it in a couple of times a year, too, due to people like Guy Moore (MidwestSurfGuy) and Don Schott who are often organizing good surf shows. They make everything happen there!
Here are a few more 'kabuki' videos posted by TikiTim - thanks, Tim!

In my world, 'different' is GOOD. While some people prefer to keep it at a distance, I embrace it. I really appreciate the information about the Cincinnati surf scene. I've found it frustrating for a long time that Louisville does not have one. In time, I hope to be able to contribute to the Cincy scene whether as a hired gun or band member.
Just out of curiosity, what's the cost of those Madeira's outfits? and are they purchased or rented?

Davis, I hope you do, as well! It's such a blast. BTW, we actually played in Louisville before - at a place called Third Street Dive, just about two years ago. it was pretty decent. Hopefully we'll do it again at some point.

We purchased them years ago. They're just cheap Zorro outfits, all plastic/polyester, and we added the Guy Fawkes masks. Not very comfortable playing in all that - none of it breathes at all! Very, very hot. But we only don these outfits for Halloween shows, the rest of the time we're much more boring...
