I just watched Hara Kiri: The Death of a Samurai by Takashi Miike (the Director of 13 Assassins)
I made sure not to read any spoilers before I watched this, and I went into it thinking it would be another 13 Assassins. It certainly is not. It is a samurai film, but it is much more of a drama than an action film.
Overall it was a very dramatic film. Sad as hell at times. A little slow at parts. But damn it was a good movie.
Highly recommended to any Samurai fans.
I still need to check out Twilight Samurai mentioned above.

About two months ago, I saw a rerun of Two & A Half Men. Now I'm addicted. The Charlie Sheen edition. Well-written, well-acted, zinger after zinger. Funny I never bothered to watch it before.

Quote from American Dad - "Two and a Half Men! Charlie Sheen sleeps with whores and then has breakfast with a fat kid." That about sums it up, but I find myself sucked in.
I have just started watching The Cosby Show from season 1 on. I didn't hate this show as a kid, but so much of it resonates with me now as a father.

My wonderful girlfriend and I watched 'Seven Psychopaths' last Friday night. I highly suggest it. It was certainly marketed as a much different film than it is. This is now my second favorite Christopher Walken performance after Joe Dirt.

Speaking of Bill Cosby, check this out.
Tried linking it at the bottom, but I keep getting an error message.

isn't Bing Crosby the guy that sang a X-mas song with that Transvestite from Mars in the 70s?

I'm watching "The Challenge" on YouTube. It's an old ABC Movie of the Week with Darren McGavin about the US and China each sending one guy to a desert island to battle it out instead of the two countries going to war. It's turning out to be as good as I remember it.

Wanted to bump cause I was hoping someone would check out and respond to the video I posted above. I was floored by it's entertainment value. Comedy, gore, drama and romance in a death metal video?
Obscure Los Angeles metal band makes a killer video that garners over 1.6 million views and largely based on the popularity of the video is given a slot at the Download Fest in Donnington.
Can't imagine that any members here would like the song, but if you are curious about the phenomenon/buzz it's created, or visual arts/video, short film/cinema, pop culture or goblins, check it out and let me know what you think.
My brief synopsis would go something like:
Goblin wakes from his medieval nightmare to find himself late for work. At work his office nemesis Brad taunts him with sales figures that make Goblin look bad in front of his co-workers including his love interest. His day is brightened a bit when said love interest invites him to her party later that night. These warm feelings are short lived however, when Brad takes over the party. Goblin begins binge drinking, Brad becomes abusive to the girl and all hell breaks loose.

Yeah, not so much a fan of the music, but man, haven't seen a whoopin' like that since Ralphie got even with Scut Farkus.

Onslow! Yeah, I love how they timed the thrashing of Brad with the beat. Can't get over how expressive that goblin mask is. That look on his face when he gets the invite is priceless. How many stars out of 10 would you give a video like that?

The Goblin mask is insanely great, and the "visual arts/video, short film/cinema, pop culture or goblins" aspect is phenomenal. Curious how much they actually spent on making it / how such an obscure band managed that. Maybe like Shivers, this is one or a few of the members day job.
Plot, quality, execution/production quality. Easily 8 or 9 stars.
Music... dunno. Pretty sure wouldn't have made it through a fraction of the song if it weren't for the video.
Eff Brad!

Parts of the opening sequence were kind of clunky and it wasn't until after the dream sequence that I found it to be more engaging. Especially on the first viewing. 9 stars for sure.
Musically, the Goblin Metal tagline they use works. I liked the pirate accordion(?) and the techno breaks.
The goblin mask-makers credits on youtube were given to (http://www.monster-effects.com) and I think I understood that the director is a fan or friend of the band.
