There might be quite a few SG101ers that would be interested in this release. It's the very first full length from Elliot's Exotica/Surf/Lounge/Crime Jazz outfit. Some may be familiar with the group's compilation contributions--"Monte Carlo Nights" on Pulp Surfin' (which also appeared on the Jackie Brown soundtrack, and "Mr. Lucky" on Shots in the Dark.
It's currently available as digital download only on Amazon and iTunes

oooooo!!! This shall go on the list!
Funny considering the Pulp Fiction relation to surf music in the 90's, but the first place I heard of this band was Jackie Brown. It's a predictably great soundtrack, and I would play the EETG track ALOT.
Thanks for the head's up on this!

It's on Spotify too, just search for Elliot and Tiki. You don't have to subscribe if you're okay with the ads every few songs.

This is great news.
I have the 3 songs he did in the 90s.
And I saw him and his band at the Key Club
Downstairs lounge a few years back.
If this is anything like that show.
It will be really worth checking out.

New issue of Guitar Player magazine has an article on Elliot and recording Easton Island.
Looks like the CD will be released in May. Hope it has the same cool graphics on the cover!

Just got around to listening to this CD a few times on Spotify this week. Really dig it. Nice mix of exotica, surf, jazz and pop. Very textured and well produced too. Worth checkin out if you haven't already. Not a surf CD, but a good cross over.

This is pretty decent. Has he ever done anything called the Easton Front?

The holidays are presenting an opportunity to catch up on some reading I missed, among which are a few issues of the Guitar Player magazine from earlier this year. I just saw that the May issue featured a short but nice piece on Elliot Easton's Tiki Gods. I thought some of you might enjoy it - here it is:

Easton is doing a good job promoting a mature instro style at the fringes of the mainstream. Hopefully his fame will help make music without lead vocalists a little more accessible and thus more players will consider guitar instro in their careers.
