hi!
this was an idea of our rhythm guitarist and me - we gathered 7 guitars, and I played a lick and an arpeggio ... basically, a tune that might sound familiar to some of you. we recorded this with the same amp settings and just a tiny little bit of reverb, we cranked up all pots on the guitars to maximum, and we just used the pickup next to the bridge.
these seven guitars are
- a Les Paul with P90s
- a strat
- an sg standard with humbuckers
- a semiacoustic with TV Jones classic humbuckers
- a jaguar
- a gibson firebird with mini humbuckers
- a godin jazzbox with a single dogear mounted next to the neck
the sound may not be the most sophisticated one on earth, the drum loop is pathetic, and we got slowly intoxicated while recording - therefore, slight playing glitches may have happened. the result can be found here:

so ... take a chance ... which one is the single coil, and which is the humbucker guitar? what sound come close to a surf tune (just in case that you don't hate all of them...)
if you don't want to expose yourself, you can also send me a message and i will anonymize your result and send you the right order ...
