This is ostensibly the first JM Bob Bogle used, and he sold it to Don when he bought a second one. If this is that guitar, it was in the Rock & Roll fame for a while after The Ventures were inducted. And that would make it the same JM Don talks about here. —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

Looks like its a bit worse for wear even compared to the inset pic. And the bridge saddles need fixing up up something - the E-string doesn't look good —He who dies with the most tubes... wins |

I'm not predicting anything, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this ends up with a Ventures collector in Japan. —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

too bad its not their original ones from when it was just the 2 of them playing together in bars. Like how PJ and Eddie started out. —Jeff(bigtikidude) |

the first JM that Bob used on Walk Don't Run was probably a 58 or 59. —Shawn Martin |

Yeah. Don says (starting around 29 sec. in) that he bought this guitar from Bob, but not that it was Bob's first JM. It would be too late for that. Thanks for pointing it out. —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. Last edited: Jun 30, 2012 21:12:32 |

Leon Taylor is a very good drummer, although he has a metronomic feel that his dad didn't have. —Shawn Martin |

I've tried a few of these over the years. Fender's quality problems were becoming evident. I never thought the guitar played or sounded that great for the money being asked for at the time. |

In Don's defense, he may have dug the general shape of the Mosrite but the Wilson Bros necks bear no resemblance to a Mosrite —Shawn Martin |

I assume he learned from watching his dad. I'm not criticizing Leon by any stretch. I'm just saying Mel was a little less drum machine sounding Shawn Martin |
