Yeah! That'd be cool, it'd work really well because that guitar line just really wouldn't clash with a vocal melody. Sometimes that is really hard, when doing an instro cover, but I think it'd work well.

yup.
sorry for the derail,
found another cover of I wanna be adored
with a girl singer. (monsters are waiting)

as one of the comments says,
the song works better with girl singers.

Yeah, I am fond on the three EPs as well, especially that Christmas one.
The only thing they've ever done that I don't like are covers. My Boyfriend's Back and that I Wanna Be Adored cover. I love the Stone Roses, but I felt they didn't capture the song right.
I have no complaints about your order! Any order is a good order as far as I'm concerned. I would rank the B-sides album after Whip it On on my list. Whip It On is amazing... Love listening to it. Got the vinyl for $10, absolute steal. I have everything on vinyl except the Attack of the Ghostriders 7". I should just splurge on it so I have a complete set...
I just really love that band...
I agree that the two covers you listed are, at very best, quite mediocre, and, at worst, terrible. That isn't to say that all covers they have done are that way. Their cover of I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry is hauntingly fantastic. Also, I have a live cover of 100% by Sonic Youth and it is pure magic.

Yeah, the I'm So Lonesome, that is one of the best things they have done. I was at a gig they did the 100% cover, it was when they were doing the just Sune and Sharin tour. I know I've heard them do other covers... but what were they...

Well, there is 'Christmas, Baby Please Come Home', from the previously mentioned Christmas EP.

I don't like that one...
Oh! And the exquisite One Day at a Time by John Lennon. That one is really really good.

Been listening to a lot of Raveonettes recently. Observator has truly become my favorite album of theirs. They have just been hitting them out of the park, each of their albums are amazing. When Pretty in Black came out I thought it impossible to top, but they have with their last two albums. Lust, Lust, Lust was a beast of an album in its own right, and In and Out of Control is great stuff as well.
An absolute shame they don't get the press they use to. It's been some time since they've been on TV. I think in 20-25 years time they are going to be held in very high regard. In a similar way we look upon some of the 80s British bands today.

Those are both great. I don't really know why I haven't gotten into them yet, they do have something special.

By no way an even depiction of their best stuff, just stuff I thought of first. They have so many truly great songs and a incredibly wide array of sounds.

Wow, really good range; I really do like the newer single quite a bit. They do remind me of some of the better bands in the 80's (and to some degree in the early 90's) that did not really get the airtime they deserved. I might have to revisit their older stuff now (and get the new one); my wife might appreciate the change from the usual instrumentals I always play on our commutes.

Mike, I am glad you checked them out. In visiting their back catalog you are going to discover both a wide and narrow range in their sound. I have my favorites, but find that changes depending on my mood.

I think I lived under a rock, musically anyway, from 1979 to 2011. One of the great things about the people of SG101 is they keep exposing me to the music I missed. I'd heard of The Raveonettes since joining here, but never sought them out to listen. Live and learn. Every day. Thanks Noah and Jake. Great turn-on.

Great band! Really surprised they didn't draft in a bass player for that Letterman appearance - do they use pre-recorded bass, or did the bassist for Letterman's band play the bass part off camera?

They have pre-recorded of the drums and bass parts so they can either drop in a bass player or drummer just depending on logistics. They did tour with a bassist this time around. I've seen them with as many as two to five people.

I thought I was pretty well-versed in many things worth listening to (old and new), but here I'm constantly reminded of just how much I don't know. I'd have to say in the last few years after I started coming here, it has been my best years of musical discovery ever.

I listened to the youtube list. A lot of it I really liked. I'm with Noel. I'd never heard of them before. I'm still under the rock.

I think Sunes best band EVER is "Psyched Up Janis"!
Check that out

I am a long-time follower of The Raveonettes. I absolutely love the band, despite the 'hit and miss' nature of their past few albums. I am also a huge fan of Tremolo Beer Gut, expecially during Sune's tenure as guitarist. However, I simply can't find much love for Psyched Up Janis. I suppose the music is very much of its time. It is a 90's post-grunge band, through and through. This just isn't my thing. I didn't care for that sound even during its prime. I will say that I have a spectacular solo rendition of the Psyched Up Janis track 'I Died in my Teens' performed by Sune. It has all the Raveonettes glory in the way he performed it and it stays in rotation on my Ipod.
