This is kind of pie-in-the-sky venture at this point, but a friend of my band apparently has "a connection" at The Viper Room in LA, and she is insistent that she can get us a gig there. From what I gather on the interwebs, this is an A-lister Hollywood nightclub that used to be owned by Johnny Depp. Do any of you west coasties have any insight as to whether surf/instro would go over there?

That is indeed the club formerly owned by Johnny Depp and River Phoenix. I am curious if it is like a handful of clubs here on the east coast that have a large room and then a small room for more unknown bands.

well, The Blue Hawaiians played there somewhat regularly in the late 90's...The Lava Lounge too...
I wonder if our pals in Slacktone ever played the Viper Room?

I have been there once,
and it was to see Jimmy Wilsey (IIRC).
seemed to go over ok, but I wouldn't say that the crowd was freaking out for it.

Thanks flip -- a bit concerned about that.
