okay, i couldn't resist...

anyone with a fender guitar, amplifier, reverb, a set of old slingerland or gretsch drums...a kazzoo...whatever...

and you live in (or near) the mojave desert of california...

i think it's about time we all meet up and start reverberating the heck out of the joshua-tree-and-creosote-bush crowd.

or at least play a couple of Foghat tunes in your garage...

I'm in the Victor Valley...I think Bakersfield is about 2 hour drive...past Barstow, Boron, Mojave and Tehachapi...up 395 to the 58...

I'm off the I-15 north of SanBernardino...

thanks for the offer...maybe i can venture on a roadtrip someday and meet up...

Two hours is nothing - I live three hours away from the rest of the guys in the Madeira! So, just do it! Seems to be the only way to get a surf band together in today's world....

Where in Victor Valley? I can usually roll into Barstow in 2 1/2 hours, another 30 minutes to Victorville. Then I get lost. I drive better than I play.

Ah, the Valley of Apples - I actually don't recall much fruit growing there. There's less in Vegas anyway.
I have a korean PRS and a korean copy of a PRS (there's a pattern here, I think). The former was free, the latter cost me all of $260. I inherited my daughter's bass, and have just household amps: Fender 60W bass combo, and a Marshall MG 30W. I picked up an Alesis SR16 drum machine I plug thru an older Marshall VS 15W, and have every intention of learning how to program the dang thing - someday.
I quit playing in 1965: girls and motorcycles took precedence. Then I picked up a Telecaster last year just before mother's day (and my wife's birthday). Poor timing, eh?
Nonetheless, my heart has always been into geetar instros (can't sing), and surf in particular. I like Mike Graves Surfonics sound and style and have tried to emulate it as much as I know how to. I worked with the son of 'Little' Milton Cambell (delta blues) who once advised me 'Slow done right is better than Fast done all wrong'. As a result, I can do Slow all wrong, too.

We locals often refer to our hometown as "Apple-less Valley"...

But, I am hopeful that the Town Council will wise-up and change the name of our town to "Walmart Valley" or "Home Depot Valley"...or maybe "Planned Unit Development Valley" or even "Gated Retirement Community Village Valley"... at least those names make more sense!

Back in the 1900s-1930s, there were many Apple Orchards...but, by 1940 or
the farmers had depleted the aquifer and could not reach the ground water with their pumps and wells (at that time)...by the time houses came in the 1950s, deeper well technology allowed for more water...unfortunately, by then almost all the apple trees were gone.

I didn't want the Mojave Desert venue to drop to the bottom of the screen because of disuse - surely someone between Barstow and Mesquite feels the need to join the "I-15 Surf Instrumental Preservation Society" of which so far I'm the onliest member.
