I would put it at 1969 due to the decal. I can't recall seeing any '68 stamped necks with a black decal.

Beautiful guitar. I'm not well-versed on Jaguars and Jazzmasters, so please excuse my ignorance. I didn't know that any of them came with maple fretboards. Are there a lot of them like that?

Very few, you see a couple in '68 and then a few more in '69 and then a few more throughout the 70s. Not very common. Only seen several in person.

No way is that a '66. I'm betting 1969 or 1970 due to the Fender logo on the case too. Strange that it doesn't have a neck date. In 1969, Fender changed to the confusing green-stamped numbers and in 1968 they were still doing the black neck-stamp with code/month/year. Even custom necks were stamped.

Always interesting to see one of these "time capsule" guitars, preserved as if it had been stored in a glass case out of the light. I've never seen anything like it.
