I'll let you guys know how he's doing... I will be seeing him on Thursday along with the Pyronauts Big Grin

He's playing in Bellingham on Saturday in a club that holds about 120 people - but it's crap like this, and the $20 cover charge, that are really making it hard to decide whether to go or not. I've seen him live close to a dozen times, and yes, there are snippits here and there in his live set that make you thankful you went, but jeez, it's the stuff like this that makes it unbearable at times.

I haven't watched all of it; just thought people might dig the medley. Guess I'll watch all of it so I can see what you're talking about.

Certainly not DD's best work.

You know, famous or not famous, I'd certainly be disappointed to pay money and hear that...

why don't one of you post something here that you like better?

Those KEXP videos from a a while back were great.

"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

I've seen him once a year for about the last 12-14 years...
I have seen him do some poor sets in that time but, for the most part he always entertains and I walk away smiling and ears bleeding Wink

I may be the oddball here but, I do enjoy his rants and stories during a set, It's all part of the Dick Dale experience.

I hope to see him in person at least once before he retires or checks out. I have several concert recordings, and I really enjoy his verbal interaction with the audience.

found a couple I shot (see links below)

Dick has been playing live and recording music for an eternity!! what a powerful presence he is (IMHO) still, to this day, on stage

I actually give him credit for NOT doing a live set that is 100% surf, because he always gives it his all!!

here ya go,

Having just finished watching the DD surf medley all the way through, I have no idea why some of you don't like it. I'd gladly pay $20 to see/hear that in person. imo, it's great. That's actually the first time I've heard Dale sing and it sounded alright instead of like "please stop singing!"

Uh-Oh

If you've never seen him live, you really should if given the chance. I've seen him many times (with varying degrees of quality), but I pretty much always walk away glad I went.

That said, I do not care for that medley, and as Sean stated, his ticket prices are WAY high.

But what's not to like about it?

Every performer has an 'off day' every once in a while, its about the energy of performance and DD is always a great showman entertainer.
