Hi gang--

I know I don't have a huge presence here on SG101 but I thought this might interest some of you. I am selling a 1961 Ludwig Champagne Sparkle drum kit (no snare, no cymbals, no hardware--just the bass drum, floor tom, rack tom), 22-inch bass drum, 16 inch floor tom, 13 inch rack. Beautiful champagne sparkle wrap. All original, no extra holes or modifications, some typical user wear on the bass drum. Best of all, this was used by an original 1960s California surf band!! They never made records and you've never heard of them, but I got this from the original owner and I'll tell you the story if you want to buy the drums. I have them for sale on craigslist in LA and I'm sure to get some interest there too, but let me know if any of you SG101'ers want to buy it! Thanks!

Craigslist listing here, with photos: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/msg/3425839776.html

Thanks,
Deke Dickerson

Free bump, from a fan!

Sold to the first guy to came to look at them. Sad to see 'em go!

Thanks for giving the forum a shot. That was a fantastic looking kit at a great price. I'm not surprised it sold quickly.

What did they go for ?

errm it says 800 bucks in the headline...

here comes the WEST SAMOA SURFER LEAGUE

That was a pretty good/fair deal. Not sure what ebay's cut would be, but probably could have gotten $900-$1000 at auction with original sparkle and no extra holes, etc.

Last year I sold the same size, similar condition 1966 Ludwig 3 piece kit in silver sparkle for $1,310 on ebay. I netted $1,272.

Deke, I played with a drummer in an unknown surf band in '64-'65 who played a Champagne Sparkle set of Ludwig's. Can I PM you with a possible name of the original owner? Not buying but very curious.

you cant get a deal like that in Florida, no way
