Okay, sorry about that. This was a test and the format of the photograph can't be viewed or linked to. Sorry. I'd appreciate it if this post could be deleted. Thanks for your understanding. —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. Last edited: Apr 30, 2012 19:05:36 |

True that - Me thinks it has LESS to do with equipment - more with the player... Teles are just simply GREAT guitars - same with Strats - but giving a brush to an inexperienced artist, as opposed to a GREAT artist will yield very different results - IOW, is it the Artist or the brush? |

I'm a huge Telecaster fan. I think the reason it wasn't used so much for surf was because it lacked the tremelo system of a Strat or a Jag/JM. Fitted with a Bigsby or similar system, it's GREAT for surf. Matt "tha Kat" Lentz |

I`ve put a Bigsby on mine, and I always take it with me as my back-up guitar. Works great! Nils Tempo —Nils "If it hadn’t been for Link Wray and 'Rumble,' I would have never picked up a guitar." - Pete Townshend, The Who |

Love my American Standard Tele. Great sound and one of the most versatile guitars in existence. The only reason I play my Strat more is because it's much more comfortable to play for long periods of time. I think the Tele is a beautiful instrument and I can't bring myself to putting a Bigsby on it! I don't want to affect it's appearance or tone. Maybe I'll get a Nashville Tele which gets some Strat quack and but a trem on that! GAS is back. —Either you surf, or you fight. |

In the "Downloads" section, if you click on Gear Samples, our original "Midnight Surf" is played on a Tele (Esquire) with a Bigsby. |

I play surf (& everything else) on Teles 90% of the time. I really don't miss the trem all that much. Sometimes I kinda work around the lack of a trem with interesting string bends & pushing on the neck. I love Strats too, but that middle pickup always gets in my way. The Tele just fits me like a glove. —Otto & The Ottomans |

Well, that`s a proof good as any that you can play surf on a Tele. Sounds great:) Nils Tempo —Nils "If it hadn’t been for Link Wray and 'Rumble,' I would have never picked up a guitar." - Pete Townshend, The Who |

Nice rig. I use my dad's sunburst American tele for surf, and while it is unmodded, with no trem, it gets the job done. I've never used a trem much, and I've learned to bend in tune, and it works. Telecasters have a great twangy sound, and I love the great thick necks. I just with mine had a tummy cut and a powertron neck pickup. —IMO. |

I've never been that hot for teles myself, but when I saw this w/p90s at Rondo, I couldn't resist giving it a try. It's on its way now...
If I like it, I may consider adding a new bridge and a bigsby in the future. —Mike Last edited: Jan 01, 2013 21:13:32 |
