Urban Surf Kings are booked into the studio in December to record a vinyl/digital EP. We'll be working with Brad Conrad again (Surf vs the Flying Saucers, Live in Hell, Longhorn). Can't wait!!!
I'll keep you posted here.

I'm stoked to hear that the Urban Surf Kings will be recording. The Rev's "Longhorn" album is one of the best in recent memory.
My 2 cents regarding vinyl, digital, CD's, I prefer CD's, even for EP's. I hate MP3's, but don't mind FLAC files if I have to go digital.

Recording update:
Things have been crazy busy, so we've postponed the recording until early in the new year. The good news is that we'll be recording more tunes than planned. We previewed one of the new tracks, English Monkey, at a show last night. It was dancer approved!

Recording starts this week. We are sitting on about 9 tunes at the moment. When we are done recording we'll have to figure out what format to release this on due to the fact that there are more tunes than initially planned.

Please consider releasing (at least some of it) on a CD. Some of us are "set in our ways" & still listen to vinyl (yay !) CD's & cassette tapes (yay ! again) to hear our music. My guitar buddy still uses "mini-discs" to help him w/his live solo set, & that's kind of "extreme" but lest we believe all the "media stigma" surrounding the latest listening method.....please remember some of us still use the "older methods". Thanx & Bang Howdy Pardner !

Had 2 reheasals to learn the 4 tunes, and we are ready to record. Just waiting to hear back from the studio about available time. The recording should only take about half a day, I figure.

We hit the studio intentionally under rehearsed this time to see what direction the tunes would take. Some cool parts came out as a result. With nothing carved in stone, we were able to surprise ourselves, and have a lot of fun. I think the tunes have a nice balance of structure and looseness. Granted we only recorded 4 songs, live off the floor, so the risk was not a big one to take.

Thanks for the write-up, it's always cool to read these studio reports. Best of luck on finishing it up!

My pleasure.
I'm going back in Monday to lay down some Baritone Guitar, and possibly keys to flesh out a couple of parts. Maybe some vocals too (yelling).
