I was wondering how many people know of this great site?

It seems it hasn't been updated since 2009.
sad, because there has been some great releases since then.

Does anyone know who runs the site?
Do they lurk here on SG101?

I love and hate the site, as It has tons of releases that I don't know about. And I want to have them all, well or at least most.
None

Wow, he did a pretty thorough job at least in our case. Even has all the comps we were on, some I don't even remember being a part of. interesting indeed.

I've been there a bunch of times. It's a great resource.

Yeah, this is definitely one of the most comprehensive AND best instro references on the net. I use it all the time.

Last mention of it here seemed to focus on the 2009 update/maintenance.

Insect Surfers
The Tikiyaki Orchestra
The Scimitars
Lords Of Atlantis
Fiberglass Jungle - Surf Radio

That site is a godsend and I can't believe it exists. I'd help update it myself if I could

I'm just wondering who runs it, and why they stopped updating.
But are still keeping it on the net.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Some guy in France owns the site.

Ted James

ya think?

It has been a great resource for many years, but I have not known of anyone who has been able to contact the author, and he hasn't shown any interest (that I know of) in any of the surf music mailing lists for SG101. Perhaps the language barrier is the problem here. Obviously he put a ton of research and love into that site. At one point we were going to have a wiki here at SG101, but he kind of made that unnecessary.

Since 2009, I sent several e-mails and didn't get any reply nor my suggestions added to the site. Before that I sent stuffs that did enter the site but the guy never answered tough.
It's very upsetting that this website is no longer updated because it's a great database, very useful.

Instrumental music researchers should all be aware of Instromania.net

Insect Surfers
The Tikiyaki Orchestra
The Scimitars
Lords Of Atlantis
Fiberglass Jungle - Surf Radio

His name is definitely Olivier Vincent. I did communicate with him off and on a while back, in 2008 and early 2009. I think he just wore out, or maybe other issues drown out this one with him at the moment. It happens. His English was better than my French.

Discogs

Wow. How unfortunate. I suppose there is a chance he forgot to renew it and will rectify that in a few days.

It is also a coincidence that I will be rolling out the SG101 wiki shortly. It will take years (?) to match the knowledge on instromania.net however.

That's a HUGE loss, if it doesn't come back. I've used that resource many, MANY times.

OFFLINE??? Argh
I used this site all the time!!! I sent Olivier a email a few years back, and asked if he needed help with some updating, but sadly the man never replied back. It's a sad day for us instro geeks indeed. Cry

Reverb, It's A Way Of Life!

I wonder if there's anything that can be done about this. Seems like it ought to be a permanent reference site, even if the author is no longer active.
