No Camping,
Utilizing SG101's "Search" function can yield quite the treasure trove of information, without having to start a brand new thread. Just entering the key word "scales," for instance, resulted in at least 5+ useful threads.

Insect Surfers
The Tikiyaki Orchestra
The Scimitars
Lords Of Atlantis
Fiberglass Jungle - Surf Radio

My experience with various forums is that sometimes a search on a broader topic like "scales" can yield an overwhelming amount of information that inundates, sidetracks, or discourages the person posing the question. Camping, it appears you've edited your original post but if you have specific questions about anything I'd be happy to chime in. While I'm largely new to surf in general, I have a really strong theory background and am generally good at explaining things (when I don't get to verbose!) so if you have specific questions I'd be willing to answer/clarify if your searches don't address your immediate questions or are confusing in any way.

Best,
Steve
