I'm looking for some good tunes - hopefully also popular to fairly popular - from the 60s that are instrumentals with organ. They don't have to be "surf" necessarily, so thus far I have:
Green Onions - Booker T
Telstar - Tornados
Pipeline - Chantays
We've added keys to other songs - like we do Wipeout and do a keyboard solo in addition to the stock guitar solo but in stuff like Walk, Don't Run we just have the keys playing backing chords along with the rhythm guitar.
In other words, we try do stay "true" to the original recording (usually by the original artist or at least the most popular version that everyone is most familiar with). If the original didn't have keys, we don't add them in any way other than doubling the rhythm guitar unless it's more of a "jam" type song where we can add a solo, etc.
I know there's a tune called "The Savage" by both the Shadows and Venutures - don't know which came first but the Ventures added keys.
So for those I'm ok with doing the Ventures version even if the Shadows version was more popular (I don't know that it was or if either version was very popular).
I've basically got this really great keyboard player in my band who can cover all kinds of stuff and I want to find things that will include him - like Out of Limits by the Marketts, etc.

The Creeper - Ventures
Satan's Theme - Challengers
Burnin' Rubber aka Batmobile - Gene Moles
Balboa Island - Usher/Super Stocks Ventura (can't find Balboa Island)
Hearse - Al Casey
Cemetary Stomp - Essex
Boss Soul - Rumblers
Deuces & Eights - New Dimensions
Psyche Out - Orginal Surfaris (piano of course)
Confined to one example per artist. There's actually a lot of stuff in this range. And it gets even better in later waves.

These are all great selections. I would also say pretty much anything by Laika & The Cosmonauts. Some of my favorite keys/organ work in this genre exists in their music.

Everything posted here is Great ! I know they're not a "surf" band per se but the Rivieras "H.B. Goose Step" & "Battle Line" are pretty good & both feature "Farfisa slides" thru a (Fender ?) reverb amp. Thier CD's "Greatest Hits" (w/Buick in field) has instrumentals while "Let's Stomp" (w/Buick in showroom) does not. They are on Norton Records (& ya' may remember their hit from 1964 "California Sun").

Oh, I remember it well (though I wasn't yet born when it came out and in fact this was one of the songs that caused me to start this whole band project.
Thanks for the suggestion jon, and everyone. Am checking them all out.

I've added links above where I could. More recent bands.
Mile Zero - Bomboras (more or less at random)
Hangar Party Stomp - Boss Martians (more or less at random)
Movin' - Fifty Foot Combo (picked a cover of an early piece)
