Permalink VM Squier and Fender Japan Jaguar necks not interchangeable

New Topic

I have seen people put replacement necks on the VM Squiers, so I would assume the dimensions are the same at the heel, pocket, etc. with AVRI and vintage. We know the pickguard and plates are to vintage spec so what about the neck?
I found that the Japanese Jag neck's factory drilled holes do not line up with the Squier's. The CIJ neck on the Squier body ends up about a 1/4" too far out- making a gap.
So which is spec? I would guess the Japanese one is the offender. It doesn't follow the historic design in so many areas.
I'd like to hear from anyone who put another Jag neck on a Japanese Jag and/or anyone who replaced the VM Squier's and see if there are similar situations or if I have one oddball factory drill job. It's too bad as I like the old radius and standard frets on the CIJ neck.
