Fuzz?

Okay, I have a $200 credit at Elderly's in Lansing Mi, I would like to get a fuzz pedal and no nothing about them - think of the Cramps or maybe Link Wray, vintage fuzz not a metal type fuzz.

I like loose fuzz much like the original Fuzz Face. it's tradish!

The anouncer is super annoying, but the fuzz sounds groovy. The Cramps used a Univox Superfuzz exclusively. I didn't see a version of one on the Elderly sight. This was the closest nastiest one they had.

Depends if you want smooth, bluesy fuzz or trebly buzz saw garage rock fuzz. I have the Jimi Hendrix fuzz face and like it, it's more versatile since the fuzz is creamy. But if you want a "Satisfaction" or buzzy garage fuzz, I'd look into the Ashbass Fuzzbrite, it's a copy of the Mosrite Fuzzrite and sounds really good. Either are great fuzzes, but the Fuzzbrite sounds like it'd be strictly for loud harsh fuzz.

I think Big Muff is pretty versatile. Especially for tube amps. Tone and drive knobs in combination with different pickups give you a lot of variations.

Having to buy at a retail store, you are limited to what they have, but ...

I have an Ennio Trilogy (The Good, Bad and the Ugly) and it is simply amazing for Spaghetti. I'm currently wondering just how good the Mojo Hand FX One Ton Bee fuzz is compared to it.

I use a DIY Foxx Tone Machine that I like far better than the FuzzBrite I had. Gets a nice bumble bee fuzz and is more versatile than the Ashbass

I really want one of those ennio fuzz pedals. They're way cool looking! Do they chord well though? I have a fuzz built into one of my effects, and it nails the spaghetti western thing, but sounds awful (in a bad way) on somewhat high pitches and any chord besides the most basic 2 string power chords. +1 on the big muff too. My brother has a Russian one and a proco rat he alternates using. The big muff for fuzz, and the rat as a treble boost for leads.

I use mine (Ennio Trilogy) on barre chords all the time and it sounds great. For example, the barre chords that are played throughout Walk, Don't Run. Don't laugh; there's spaghetti in there if you alter the rhythm enough to find it.

I'm very happy with mine.

The Way Huge Swollen Pickle is a great fuzz in the vein of a Big Muff, but even more flexible and it's a relative bargain.

I don't think any of these are available at Elderly as per your original inquiry but two affordable Fuzz pedals I Love and use in our band are the Visual Sound Angry Fuzz, which is great because you can dial in the amount of octave as desired to nasty things up and The Joyo Ultimate Octave which is one of my favs for Eleki fuzz. I keep the fuzz low and outputs up on both of these to get retro sounds.
A little more in the price range you were talking, the Pigtronix Disnortion is really cool and flexible because it has 6 different types of fuzz from huge to tiny and buzzy and even a setting that just makes things Twang more. It also has Overdrive and Octave and you can select via footswitch which effect is on or even use all at once. A really flexible pedal.

My favorite fuzz is actually a distortion... RAT - with my Jaguar/Jazzmaster get some wicked fuzz tone, the RAT is a really versatile pedal. Other than that my other favorite is the Way Huge Swollen Pickle, I also enjoy the MXR Blue Box with the octave effect turned off same goes for the Danelectro French Toast Octave/Fuzz.
