I know playing a real guitar is fun and much more productive or whatever, but I throughly enjoy playing Guitar Hero for what it is; a videogame.
The 2nd one is really cool. You have the option of playing along with another player. They can choose to play Rhythm or Bass.
Dude, let's setup a Bay Area Guitar Hero party

Yeah, I'm probably just being sour 'cause I haven't played enough.

Sadly, I do not have it.
I was hoping someone in the area would.

I'm afraid the newest video game system I own is a Super Nintendo, circa 1997.
I have to do a little travelling to get a guitar hero fix at a friend's house.

Hey, if y'all are up for making the trek down to Orange County, I know a devilishly handsome fellow who's got a copy. (Hint: me.)

OK, I hate to be a killjoy, but I think a cheap electric guitar and some sort of instructional DVD would be more fun.

I have gotten into many a internet fights about this subject. i think if a guitar player wastes practise time playing this game (it's okay at a party or a bar or something) they should be stripped of there guitar players union card.
I mean think of it from a different concept.

Guitar hero is way different than playing guitar and I have no problem with a guitarist playing this game. They aren't attempting to replace playing guitar with a video game.

I play bass, and I can say that the game forced me to use my pinky finger, which helped me use it more when playing bass. So yes, I think it can help you.

It doesn't, as far as I know. Most of the tracklist is crap (Eddie Money - WTF?), but there's a handful of good songs on it. Okay, two good songs - "wrathchild" and "Only a Lad."
I really can't see spending $40 on this one - but I'm definitely going to try and talk one of my roommates into getting it.

I think its harder to be good at 'Guitar Hero' if you play guitar - because your ear tells you to hit the next button up if you hear a semitone interval - whereas the game wants you to hit the next button down or whatever.... I would imagine that drummers who read music would have an advantage.
It is quite a cool game though......
