Here is a pic of Tommy's amp.

It was good seeing you again Brian. Your correct, Tommys amp is very unique looking and sounding. Very 60's garage sounding. Way cool too! It was a really fun and musically full day. I hope they do it again next year.

Thanks for the nice right up of the Wraybands Brian. It was nice finally meeting you(briefly). Smile

That was a fun show! Just a PERFECT day for an event like this, mid-70s and sunny, California weather - almost right until it started pouring! (just another 30 minutes of dry skies would have done the trick, so close...) Thanks for the great review, Brian, and for making the long trek, it's always a true pleasure to see you. It was also wonderful to see the Concussions, Cocktail Preachers, Pete Curry & Eddie Angel, Jet, Chelsea, Keith and Mike of Surfabilly Freakout, MidwestSurfGuy, as well as a few other familiar faces. I think the whole event was organized really well by Dave, and everything ran super-smoothly, which was impressive. it's a very cool tiki bar/restaurant, and Dr. Fongs (their specialty drink) are pretty awesome - they've got a kick like a mule! Lots of great music that whole day, too, particularly the Concussions for me, who I think are just a fantastic and seriously underrated band. I REALLY wish I could have stuck around for Roger & the Wraybands and the Cocktail Preachers, especially after reading Brian's review, but I had to drive home that night (as it was, I got home at 2:30 am, after a 3+ hour drive - that was pretty painful). I was able to see about 20 minutes of the Neanderthals who were putting on a great show, but just as I started walking to the car, it started raining. As I drove out of the area I could still hear the band, so I hoped that they were able to continue, but I guess it was not to be, what a bummer. Eddie and Pete came a long way to play this show. The rain also made the first hour of my drive pretty miserable, but oh well.... If the Madeira is playing, the chances are that there WILL BE some sort of a weather-related calamity! Anyway, a really fun day, and I've got my FongFest t-shirt on as I write this! I just wish I had a Dr. Fong to go with it....

BTW, I hope to write more about this over the next week or so, but I give TWO HUGE THUMBS UP to both the new Concussions album (Fall In Love With...) and the new Los Straitjackets album Jetset, which IMO is probably their best ever! It was a real pleasure to be able to tell that in person to all of the first band, and one half (two-fifths?) of the second band. Do yourselves a big favor, and pick up both, if you haven't yet!

Here's hoping this is just the first of many more FongFests to come!
