That's one of the first surf CDs I bought... probably just for the poster that was included! Slacktone moves me. They are my favorite, not just because of the incredible music and musicianship, but because they are sweet and awesome and caring people. The world is a better place with Slacktone in it.

Let me try to clear this up. I don't want to be dogmatic but Slacktone is absolutely the BEST, always have been, always will be. In songwriting, virtuosity, excitement, tone they are without peer. If you haven't seen them live you really don't know how good they are. There are other great bands but there is only one like Slacktone. They do not need to wear capes or masks to enhance their shows, they rely on sheer brilliance. This is not just my opinion, it is fact and cannot be denied.

I remember when I was in graduate school in the 1970s, how often we (locals) would misunderstand (or be misunderstood by) our fellow international students. They understood each other's English, inspite of being from everywhere from Armenia to Zimbabwe, better than they understood us, or we understood them. It became something of a running gag that they would translate our English into their English for each other.
It was hardest on the new arrivals, who took a while to catch on and didn't understand the humor of the situation at all, until it was explained to them. But just not by us.

Now this is how to hijack a thread; just go from music to buxom women.

Okay, Jake. But I think dogs are waaay cooler than cats. You almost don't even have to teach a dog to surf, but the only way to keep a cat on a surf board is with duct tape.

Noel,
and to bring it back on track,
haven't you heard of the Song originally by the New Dimensions,
"cat on a hot foam board" ?
and Slacktone covers it too.

Yep! It's on their "Best of" comp. The entire CD is a gem. A rabble-rousing gem.

this expression writes on their website. Is that right or not? I listened to them on youtube, in my opinion; ok their sound is strong and they are so good band but in fact I don't think Slacktone is America's best surf instrumental band. My candidates of Best Living American Surf Band;
Los Straitjackets
Satan's Pilgrims,
Man or Astro-man?
Longboard Ranch
The Phantom Surfers
well, what about folks about this?
One of very the best, at the very least. I was about to say Bambi Molesters, but they're not American!

Tell you what, you guys dont know how lucky you are living in such a hotspot, of course maybe you do. I played trad Irish music for 15 years and the holy grail was to play in the depths of the Republic of Ireland. right in there with the very best. Of course its a cheap flight or ferry crossing from England but to pop out from here to see Slacktone? If I didnt have children what a temptation to relocate.
