I had an iPad user email me and say he couldn't figure out how to change his avatar. He said the link was there, but it was not "hot" (clicking on it did nothing). Unfortunately I don't own an iPad to try it out. Is it not possible because the iPad has no local storage? Thanks.

Seeing the same, actually.
You might be on to something, Brian. It does have a local photo library, but admittedly, I don't know the first thing about how you would (can?) browse the file structure from the browser to select an image file without maybe having an iOS app designed to do just that - which clearly happens on just about any photo edit app on the iOS platform.

Thanks Fady. I'm guessing that because you can't "pick files from the filesytem", whatever browser the iPad is running just disables the local file upload function. Everything is moving to the cloud it seems.

Maybe tweak the Avatar feature to give the option of file upload (as it works now) or like any other image posted on SG101, accept a URL from anywhere else on their interwebz...

I could, although there are the usual caveats about increasing page load times, image size issues, and security problems.

Makes sense(except the security issue bit - shouldn't be any different than any other image file linked in a post, right?)
Regardless, probably more work than it is worth to make this site cache/copy the image on the SG101 server (only for avatar images of the requisite size).

Yes, I could copy the image from the source and then resize and save it.
The security issue is the same, it is just avatars get used a lot more frequently.

Bryan,
I tried it on my iPad with the same result. Maybe if we could paste a picture into a web browser field.
Thanks
