On Musician's Friend listed as shipping by 7-20-12. That would be nice.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Have a look at the close-up pic of the bridge / tremolo....yikes?!

METEOR IV on reverbnation

I just called and ordered the new Jaguar from Sam Ash Direct, http://www.samash.com/ using the Fender product code number from the Fender website. No sales tax and free shipping, price was $245 but they said that price was only good through the end of this weekend.

Nice deal. Which color? Or is it silly to ask?

Did they say when you'd be receiving it?

I ordered the Olympic White. I already have a Sunburst Jazzmaster and a Surf Green Jazzmaster so I figured I spread the colors around.

They didn't say and unfortunately I didn't ask. I assume it would be soon as I've seen on other forums that local Sam Ash stores are already stocking them.

I may have to order the sonic blue JM Smile I like the shade that it appears on the website, even though it isn't normal sonic blue

Bunch of us crazies!

the more I think about it, I'll probably order a Mustang. Although my Jazzmaster isn't a "real" one, I put a lot of work into getting everything put together just right.

I'm with Shawn - I can't justify another Jag or Jazzmaster, I have those covered. It's a Mustang for me too.

We rule! I'll probably still go with the Sonic Blue on the Mustang...so that will go along with my surf green Strat, vintage white closeenuffforJazzmaster (with a newly painted faux gold anodized guard), and candy apple red Jag

just ordered a sonic blue Mustang from Sam Ash. They apparently have some of the new VMs in stock but not this one. He wasn't sure when they would be in, although it shouldn't be long

Hello all,

Several other forums have been talking about these since the photo leaked around February. Those discussions had them coming as part of the Classic Vibe series. Now that Fender has released them I see they are part of the Vintage Modified series. At that price ($299.99) they do seem interesting. I figure it is worth the gamble. I have been wanting a surf green jaguar for a while.

All the local shops are full with pre-orders. The wait time was too long for me. I have been talking with a dealer in Florida for quite a while about these. He had not heard about them until I told him. He did some research and contacted me to tell me when they would be receiving their first batch. They put a surf green Jaguar in the mail to me yesterday.

This may not be a AVRI 62 Jaguar. But no more than I play a short scale guitar, it may suit my needs.

Talk to you later,
Norm

For whatever reason, some of these VMs have been getting out to some shops. I have a feeling that they are supposed to hold onto them until the official release date of 7/20, but decided to start letting them go...considering the high demand. I saw one of the red Jazzmasters on ebay yesterday

This new market inundation of "Surf Guitars" could prove to be quite something to sit back and take note of. Granted, it all depends on whether or not they actually sound surfy, but could this be the point when every Tom, Dick or Harry starts incorporating surf-sounding riffs at band practice? Could this price point and accessibility actually usher in a new "wave" of young players and bands? Or, will the hipsters just buy them for their looks and try to make them sound like all their other humbucking guitars? And, what will Squier's marketing campaign be like? Will they really push the surf angle? Time to sit back and watch...

Surf music has nothing to do with the come back of Jags/Jazzmasters. They have been used by highly influential bands for sometime now, and with the invention of the internet people are finding out those bands used those guitars and so people are buying them, and then those bands are getting popular, even if they aren't good, and then more people are buying them.

Of music that is considered, by me, non-adult contemporary, I would wager that the Jag/Jazz has surpassed the Strat.

I would agree to an extent but aside from the Jazzmaster, most of the well known users of the others have tended to butcher them with humbuckers or in other ways. You don't find many players outside of the surf realm using Jags in their original form. Cobainmay have been one of the biggest causes of offset prices going through the roof, but he was also the reason that so many vintage Fenders had their vaue destroyed. For those who still feel the need to mod Fender offsets, hopefully they will do it to these rather than the originals.

My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Wilco, Johnny Marr, Red Hot Chili Peppers(Fruschiante) all play un modified Jags. Not a lot of Jag usage compared to the Jazzmaster. Who plays modified Jags? Cobain and Sonic Youth? Even Sonic Youth did use non-modified versions.

And most of the new reissues are non-vintage spec'd.
