Permalink surf medley tunes?

Amazing how many people came up with Susan Surftone's WDR/Jezebel. Apparently it's a sort of an underground favorite. That whole Surf Spirit comp is, really.

I believe Slacktone has a spy set too.

I find it interesting how Ventures-like many of the recommendations are. In that vein, how about Telstar, Out of Limits and Journey to the Stars?

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

We do a Miserlou/Malaguena meddley in every gig

We do Miserlou/Hava Nagila/The Wedge and Walk Don't Run/Jack the Ripper.

The SpeNerds
Alaska's Premier Instrumental Surf Trio!

In my opinion the Batman theme is perfect to spice up a surf medley. Everybody knows it, almost everybody loves it, and audiences (drinking or not) love to shout "Batman!"

The GnarlyMen

just like they love to shout 'tequila'

There is another approach to putting a set of tunes together. I played traditional Irish music for about 15 years and it was performed at sessions by stringing tunes seamlessly together typicaly in sets of three. So, take your first tune, maybe in the key of D and then add a tune in the relative minor which in this case is Bminor. The transition between the 2 tunes just sounds right because musicaly, it is! The set of 3 tunes can be resolved several ways. Maybe go back to D major or maybe Eminor or Gmajor as both those chords are in the key of D major. Modulating also adds a nice lift to a set of tunes too.Of course, some tunes just go brilliantly together irrespective of key.
BTW, this theory works perfectly in trad music but i have yet to try this properly in Surf style.

Penetration, K39 and Out of limits

The Beloved Invaders' "Spy Set" is Secret Agent Man, James Bond Theme, Peter Gunn, Get Smart Theme, Hawaii Five-O, which never fails to please. They just play all five songs in a row. Not a medley. They have a sort of Space Set comprised of Journey to the Stars and Out of Limits. That also gets a good reception, though I suspect most people aren't quite sure what they are hearing.

Slacktone does a great spy medley too.
