Arggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!
This is more a rant then a real want ad, as I was back from one more rehearsal where again my self restraint was tested. If there is a surf drummer available (read my post on surf drumming in the musician forum) in San Diego, please contact me thorugh here.
Ted, Jim, are you moving to San Diego any time soon? How's the cloning experiments going on?. Benny Hammond (Volcanics), are you there?
Why can't I, for once in my life, be in a band with a drummer that understands how to play surf music?
I'm glad I didn't write this just as I was coming back from rehearsal, it would have come out as ##### #### ##### ########## ####!

Ran,
Yeah, you just can't make someone into a surf drummer (or a metal drummer or a jazz drummer.) They have to like the music to begin with, or everyone will be frustrated.
You might check the SG101 and Cowabunga yahoogroups archives... about 3 weeks ago the drummer of Denver's Beloved Invaders said he was moving to San Diego and looking for a surf band.
Good luck, long live the Sand Devils!

Thanks for the kind words, BTD and Ferenc.
Maybe one day I'd be able to concentrate on improving the guitar parts instead of trying to bring the drum parts to a semi-acceptable level.

So Ran is kick the reverb eh. Hi Ran. Let me send out an email blitz to all the bands in my entourage and see what they come up with. If it's any consulation to your frustration many great bands before you have experienced this same thing. Great drummers are few and far between but a jazz or blues drummer does not make a surf drummer and vice versa. Pacific Headhunters just disbanded cause their drummer quit so now they had to forfeit playing at the pier for me this year. What a damn shame. I told them as I will tell you hold on to your dreams and keep searching you will find what you are looking for somewhere down the line. You of all people know that coming all the way from Israel and finding the American dream. Much love to you and your family. Your friend Linda

I absolutely understand what you're going through Ran, and I symathize. But keep on truckin'. I think The Pyronauts have gone through 7 different drummers? And we keep trying to push on no matter what happens.
Good Luck
Looking forward to the Whistlestop show!

This is actually a year old, and the drummer has greatly improved...so we're not currently looking for one, but if there's anyone, I'd like to know him/her for possible future projects...
