Pumping is hard. I've been working on it, but am learning a lot of it is having the right board and trucks. —http://www.satanspilgrims.com |

Totally cool! I did the same thing when I was a teenager, bolting my old wind-up Bell & Howell 8mm camera to my board. Maybe I'll try to dig up the footage and post it |

There's this little kid (six?) who lives up my street, and I mean UP the street. He has this articulated skateboard with only two inline wheels, one on each end, like an inline skate. It cannot stand by itself. You can't stand still on it unless you have the balance of a ballet dancer or trials bike rider. He pumps this thing up hill! Pretty cool stuff. —This is Noel. Any recommendation for decks, trucks and/or wheels? (For cruising on mildly-hilly pavement.) I was thinking of taking up longboarding, seeing that I'm not at a good age for vert or even freestyling anymore. — |

Love the video and love the Soundtrack. With that said, I am starting to think that the tracks on the Living in Darkness album by Agent Orange might have been my very first exposure to instro/surf music...at least in any significant way. —THE KBK ... Mike: I ride a Sector 9 longboard with Gullwing double king pin trucks and sector 9 wheels. This is a solid board for carving and cruising, not great for super fast downhill. Although I do push 30 MPH quite often. I am friends with guys that do 40-50 MPH and wear full motorcycle style helmets and some wear lether jumpsuits for protection. Sector 9 are good boards but if you really get into it there are better manufacturers. Funny story, I was longboarding barefoot on the boardwalk in Rockaway NY. Staring at the ocean when all of a sudden I hit a board that was lifted and go flying. Didn't know I was about to fall so I did not have a chance to break my fall with my hands, landed directly on my rib and cracked a rib, scraped up my elbows, knees and feet and had little splinters in my hands and feet. Cool Matt, I was looking at those and also Arbor, Goldcoast and even Santa Cruz, which all look decent... I know the trucks and wheels on longboards are considerably different than the Indie's and slimeballs I used to use in the 80's. — |

Thanks Ted, wow, that's a lot of information over there. At least with two SG101 recommendations I'm sold on the trucks now. — |

Yeah get better trucks. My deck is nice though because it is reinforced with epoxy (like a surfboard kinda) so it flexes and is strong. the flex is fun I can bounce up and down slightly and pump the board without pushing, you can also carve to push or use the old foot. All of those manufacturers are decent. However, if you want a a really good deck.. check out, Clutch, Earthwing, Bustin' Boards, etc. Also, look for softer wheels if you want to carve and cruise, they grip better. Harder wheels are good for straight cruising and commuting as well as downhill. |
