I do because I'm old, and this is one genre I hadn't tried before.

How's your digestion now?

I do because age has made all the angst go away, therefore I have nothing of value to say that anyone would be interested in.

THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary.

We couldn't find a singer...

Well it sure ain't for the $$$ !

METEOR IV on reverbnation

It's cheaper than buying a surfboard and moving to California!

I am but one dude~ Zonker Harris

There's no silly words or singing to get in the way.

I can play guitar. I can sing. I can't do both at the same time. Sigh

Fast Cars & Loud Guitars!

Had to add (ALMOST. A Link Wray tune is still an outlet for aggression.

Walk Dont Run was first song I was able to play in 1968, and I still enjoy it.

Because it's awesome, and the world doesn't need yet another white guy playing blues-rock.

I also do it because I am so drawn to the gear. Reverb tanks, Jaguars, Jazzmasters - never paid any attention to them in the past. Now thats all I look at in music stores. I've played many music genres - 60's melodic hits, hard rock, wedding band music, rockabilly, Trad. instrumental and vocal Irish music. I want to simplify things - no vocals - no harmonies to work out. Not sure what I'll do when this runs it's course.

How's your digestion now?

Come on? The word ALWAYS needs more white guys playing blues-rock. There is nothing better than listening to white people problems. Smile

As of right now, all of the above reasons. Big Grin I find this amusing.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Because it is about the music and not the ego of some singer...

The Rum Sweats

Outwardly: Pretty much all of the above and I also at times like being the underdog when playing on bills with non-surf acts or trying to convince venues to give it a shot
Inwardly: It's really the only style I've learnt close enough to say I'm starting to get it and have a long way to go. I love doing something different to other people. Cover bands bore me most of the time (I'm in one as well as The Volcaniks and while it has its moments....well....) and also when an audience or individuals hear us for the first time, seeing their faces change and they feel compulsed to get off their a$$ and dance around with a bit sh!t eating grin on their face and really get into it

Because a satisfying, loud, ripping glissando just doesn't work when playing blues (or pretty much any other style, for that matter).

Hahaha so true. It's like the old George Carlin joke about white guys singing the blues, "Whatsa' matter? Banana Republic run outta' khakis?"

I play surf guitar for all the wealth and fame! And all the chicks!

Oh, and because I like it and it's fun. But those reasons are secondary to the above reasons Big Razz

Because I couldn't get away with in previous bands (as much as I tried), and I have a lot of flowery shirts.

More than anything, I just want to play music that is inherently fun, both for the band and the audience.

I play Surf Music because the sound is sooooo magic and it never let me go again after the first time I heard the "splish-splash" of a fully cranked reverb. And it is damn sexy too...my ex used to say: "this guitar KNOWS the way from the beach right into my bedroom...!" Wink Need I say more?
