Hi everybody,
I´m currently working on a tube reverb DIY project based on the well known 6G15.
Attached you´ll find my layout v1.0.
I did some stompboxes in the past and also a tube amp kit. But this is my first build that includes the layout, so that´s why I am convinced that there are lots of mistakes.
I´ve carefully read jbennets report on rebuilding his unit.
And here are some questions and comments on the layout:
I´m looking forward to your comments!
Wiring:
pink/black: ground
yellow: signal
red: high voltage
blue: anode
green: cathode
black/yellow and black/red: heaters
bold grey: shielded for signal
I have separated the signal ground from chassis ground using auto ground lift similar to the reissue fender reverb.
all jacks are isolated.
grounds are routed locally to star points and then routed to the central star at the auto ground lift board.
I´m not sure if this is a good layout…
I did not plan a brass plate at the pots yet, as I thought to not need one with my grounding concept…
Are the shielded cables used correct?
I use them from input to the first tube and from the reverb tanks return to the next tube (input to grid…)
I would put the filtercaps inside the chassis. Is that ok? Should I separate them from the board?
I added a 56k bleeder resistor for the filter caps. Ok?
rectifier is planned as full wave, I will get some more volts for B+, but I think this is not a big issue…
heaters will be balanced by two 100 Ohm resistors
mains transformer will be a 50VA torodial one inside the chassis.
choke will be Hammond 194A (Fender 125C3A) attached outside the chassis above the filter caps aligned vertical (bolts top and bottom)
OT will be a Hammond 125BSE. Will be put outside the chassis in the last third of the chassis width, also aligned vertical.
are the transformers located and aligned correct?
Chassis will be Hammond 444-20 in aluminium,
Housing will be according orig specs and sized made by a friend of mine.
Tolex will be smooth white and the grill will be oxblood.
Looking forward to your comments.
Regards
Loed
