Jeff, I know your eyes are turned toward the week after, down in San Diego, but are you aware of anything in the week before the 5th? Or in general from the 1st - 7th (apart from things mentioned above)?

As of right now, the Only stuff I know if going on from Aug. 4th thru 9th
is in Nor. Cal.

I've been checking and re-checking this post for planning purposes and to maximize the bands I am able to see in SoCal... This post has every show EXCEPT the actual convention! (I hope nobody minds if I re-post the flyer?)image

Also, Friday August 10, the Breakaways at the OC Fair. 12:30 at the Hangar.

At this point I am trying to justify in my mind the crazy idea of staying further into the week after SG101 (8/13-). At least as far as Thursday night. Otherwise I may have to give up 8/9. I haven't checked the specific date, but I gather that Al & Manny Garcia (the core of the Rhythm Kings) play most Thursdays up in Bakersfield, and I hope to work that in some way short of insanity. The week of 7/30 doesn't work because some friends decided to get married that week. Oh well. I think I'm just going to have to make some intelligent compromises with practicality!

remember if yer coming to Ca. for the convention,
please try to do some of these pre or post conv. shows also.

thanks

Finally booked and events in LA taken into account! The pre- and post-shows are an essential part of the package as far as I am concerned, and my only regret is that as they've increased in number it's inevitably gotten to where there are two and three at the same time.

Tuck, and all,
on one hand I am happy that I have 6 great bands coming from afar
for the SG101 convention, the down side is, I can't have 3 outta town bands
and a Home/host band at a bar gig on the fri. so there has to be 3.
Which makes the decision even harder.

I want to get back to 4 local, and 4 away bands for next years convention,
but so many amazing bands want to come and play. I don't know how to do that.

And, yer right, the before and after shows,
with a local home town band help to make the SG101 weekend similar to the other 2/3 day/or 12 band gigs.

You get bar shows, Big convention show, with vending area, and the Big
HB pier show Sun. which is kinda like a Outdoor festival.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Tuck, you get my "wild-man" award for pushing yourself seemingly beyond the levels of human endurance to see all the concerts and events while you're down there, year after year. When I've been totally fried and draggin' ass, you'd be headin' out for another show 40 miles away. All hail, John "Tuck" Koontz!!!
