Permalink Double neck Mosrite

Larry Collins playing one of his double neck Mosrites back in the late 50"s.
There was an article about him in todays Washington Post. Of the 15 custom Mosrites ever made, he owns 3 of them.

Yeah on stage that's cute, but back at home mom and dad are cleaning footprints off the ceiling and loading up the tranquilizer gun. Laughing

Talk about a ham, that kid is pure pork.

I think all double neck guitars suck, they look ridiculous.
I'm a fan of Jim Thomas, but why would you treat a strat like this

Davie Allan always looked boss with his Mosrite double neck.

OK give you that, he looks mean, but that axe still looks ridiculous.

Is that Paul "Mr. Moto" Johnson in the back? He was the rhythm guitarist in the Arrows for a while...

That Photo does not look like paul to me.
I have the Apache 65 LP and Paul is on the back of that.
he has dishwater blonde hair.
I think shorlty after that LP with Davie, Paul left for Nor. Cal. for his commune, religious, folk music era trip.
but I may be off a few years.

No mosrite, no surf, but 47 secs of doubleneck fun

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UiMu_rqdWY

Man Larry can move!

His sister can't sing, but Elvis didn't care... Dig her Bigsby necked dred, is it a Martin or a Gibson, thought it was a martin, but look at that bridge...

Surfraptor, doublenecks are fun, and I think they look cool... (have you played one? And why do they "suck"?) But to each his or her own. If you think Jim Thomas double strat looks weird you should see his strat/rickenbacker doubleneck.

Why would you treat a strat like this? Nothing sacred about a strat anymore (when you can buy them for so cheap), unless it's vintage of course. I am starting to wonder if deep down you don't actually have doubleneck envy! Might need some therapy for that one!

I agree - Very fun to play - I have a bassVI /6string doubleneck. 2 regular 6 strings might be kinda pointless, but two totally differnet types of guitar/bass is pretty nifty!

Geeeze Chris... I had no Idea! I think jim had one in a tuning... dadgad or something.

THe NEpTuNeS

Never had the pleasure to play one, I just think they look ugly...
Thought it was more of an ego thing, but convince me...
Always an open mind.

For me it was first practical, (we switched bass and guitar) and at the same time goofy... silly... wacked... just for fun. Unless I am compensating for something Embarassed

I am a graphic designer, so visuals are important to me.

Strap one on sometime for fun, and see if it doesn't make you laugh.

Oops, I forgot about 2 six strings tuned differently - I take back what I said about 2 six string guitar doublenecks. I can barely play a guitar tuned regularly - let alone another tuning, so I forgot all about that concept.

I'd bet we can all agree triple necks - those are goofy! Laughing

"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been"

what about Rick Neilson from Cheap trick with his 5 neck.
a six string regular, six string with tremelo, a 12 string.
a six string with no frets, and one more, I forget what it was.

it got stolen, but he got it back years later, somebody put legs on the back of the body and made a table out of it.

Sugarfoot from the Ohio Players always used one too:

Solid!

I saw Davie's blue double neck up close and personal yesterday.
