I SOOO enjoyed watching that! What a treat! So interesting to hear how much their sound and vibe were cemented so early.
Many thanks!

Very cool. Jim has such a unique sound. Is that a twin he is playing through? —The Techtonics reverb nation page |

I'm not exactly sure (being a drummer) but I do know that it is a Fender with a spring type reverb because the video starts with him kicking the amp. Thanks |

He used a 80s redknob Showman for ages, but I'm not sure when he first started using it. I think it was stolen with the rest of their gear a few years ago. I know they got a bunch of it back. —Shawn Martin |

It surprised me hearing a real tank. Most of the time he uses Lexicon reverb. —Shawn Martin |

For a while he was using about 8- red-knob 80's showmen heads: one for each speaker in his cabinets. He also pulled the knobs out of the Strats, wired them all in stereo, and adjusts everything (volume, reverb, looping, etc...) with foot pedals. I have a bunch more "first wave" performances by them but don't want to inundate the forum... I'm pretty sure The Great American Music Hall gig is going to be quite a riot... 8-24-2012. I think I'll be there... |
