Speaking of which, why didn't anybody tell me the Ramblin' Ambassadors have had a new LP out since March? That's on the way...
I picked it up not too long ago. It's pretty darn good. Nice "cover" of Intoxica. As you know, it's only available on vinyl (500 copies), and digital download.

Thanx for your suggestions for Dick Dale live albums, gonna search for them.

And telling that the Ramblin'Ambassadors have a new one out. Man, I was the biggest Huevos Rancheros fan in the Netherlands, booked them in my hometown Venlo... ah... those days....
Does anyone know where and how to buy a digital download of their latest? I can't wait to hear their version of Intoxica...

Their version of Intoxica is called Tiger Beat. Maybe it's an original, but it sure sounds like Intoxica to me.

Well, let me say right off the top that I'm a HUGE Eddie Angel fan, be it Guitar Party, the Neanderthals, the Planet Rockers, Switchblade, the Panasonic, or Los Straitjackets, so I may be biased. Martian Denny is, from what I can tell, a cover band playing the great instros of the 1960's. The 2 songs on this 45 are played & sound really good. This group has a great groove, and obviously understand the genre. One of the highlights for me is hearing Eddie play with Jimmy Lester again. He is such a powerful drummer. They have a full length CD released on Sundazed (Sundazed label boss Bob Irwin plays guitar in the group). If you can find a copy of the 45, I definitely recommend it!

Rev.
are you saying there is a Martian Denny full length cd on Sundazed?
I thought the one above was a cd, but guess I didn't do the follow through homework.
and as cool as the premise sounds,
I was a bit dis-appointed that it wasn't guitar or spacey versions
of Martin Denny songs.

BTD,
I had the wrong cover up, and have since corrected it. Here's the CD cover:
And the link to the CD:

My copy is the 45 put out for Record Store Day, as is the Neanderthals one.

Ah OK! I got that 7" as well, didn't know about the CD. To me the 7" was good, but not mindblowing... and I'll admit I think "spaced-out Martin Denny" would be a little cooler.

Found a copy of the vinyl reissue of this at Amoeba a few days ago. Good album, nowhere near as killer as Big Surf, but still cool.
Also ordered the newest Aqualads album, but it hasn't arrived yet.

Picked up some more cool Japanese picture sleeve 45s on eBay...
(The 4 songs originally only released in Japan)
(A-side is one of my all-time favorite Terry & The Bunnys vocals "Taiyo No Hana")
(Yuzo Kayama's backing band)

Love those, Klas, and the "Sharp 5" sleeve is especially cool.

What's extra cool with the Sharp 5 sleeve is that it actually has two front sides. Here's what it looks like when flipped over:

Overdue in picking this one up, but Mr. Mailman delivered today - plenty of time for many spins before the Convention (woot!)
Also in the "overdue" category... I'd grabbed Aloha Baby a while back, but needed to circle back and get the first 2 Tikiyaki releases. (Johnpaul - you can thank Ivan & his evening w/ guests as the reminder to grab these earlier releases... or should I say I can thank Ivan! ) Ordered direct from the band site and also arrived today by said mail man (double woot!)
And while said mailman is definitely #1 on my list today, he'd have been #1 with a gold star had this "in route" order been in the same delivery. Should be any day now...
