i pulled my strat out of the case a few days ago. i haven't touched it in four years. the strings are four years old. it was still in tune except for the G string. i plugged it in, cranked up the reverb, put it on the mini humbucker position and realized i've missed it. it's a really nice american standard from 1998 and it just sounds good. it was my first guitar and i'm happy 
to reunite with it.

Sometimes putting a guitar away for an extended time is a good thing. When you pull it out again, it's like getting a new guitar. There are actually people who don't like Strats (something unimaginable to me) but I have a number of nice guitars and I always end up back with my Jimmy Vaughan Strat. It gets more playing time than any of my others. If I could only keep one guitar, that would be the one I'd keep. |

when I first started playing guitar, I bought a early 70's univox les paul copy. Then in 1977, bought a real gibson les paul custom for $550!, now worth probably $3000-$4000. 6 years later...time for a change. Bought a 1983 USA White strat. Been playing it ever since I bought. Picked up the 77 Les Paul and just doesn't have the panache or diversity of the strat. Also too heavy to keep on my aging back. Just love the strat. Nothing liek it! I've yet to play another guitar. Don't get out to music stores much, here in NYC the 2 stores that are close to me are Rudys & another on 48th street. Salesmen are rude and pay no attention to you what so ever. So I look and leave. Around the holidays in 2011 I walked in Guitar Center and was so noisy and asked salesman if he had a JM or Jaguar to play. Had no idea what I was talking. Are you kidding me? One of these days I'll get to play a JM or Jaguar or some other guitar! but for now, it's the strat that's my fav to play surf! |

I've had numerous strats and while most of them have been MIM, I just can't seem to get into them. I think it's one of the best designed guitars ever though. I just like the other Fender guitars for some reason. —Get wet and loud wit... Abomionable Showmen FB Showmen Twitter |

i've been messing around with all my stuff. the strat sounds best when played through my deluxe reverb. my jazzmaster sounds best when played through my bandmaster with my gomez g-spring. they all sound better when someone else plays them......ha ha ha |

My Strat was my first electric guitar, and I've had it since I was 13. Its a semi-POS 93 MIM Squier but I recently restrung it after playing an SG, Epiphone Dot, and two different Teles for years and I forgot how much I loved it. I was going to use the neck for my Telemaster project but the Strat is going to get a bevy of new parts from GFS and my Telemaster is basically going to be a body swap on my Telecaster now haha! I need to stop playing around with Partscasters though and save money for a real (tube) Fender amp and one of those Squier VM JMs or Jags that are coming out in a few months |

My first strat was an 89 American Standard and I've still got it and I play it at least once a week and gig with it about once a month. Some of the frets have been worn and re-dressed and reworn, and the neck and the alder body have cracks and the odd ding in it etc but it stays in tune the best of any geetar I've had, and thats with using the vibrato arm a lot. And the pups sound fantabulous! —He who dies with the most tubes... wins |

My first good guitar was a 1993 American Standard Strat and it was my only guitar during highschool when all I did was play guitar so it's rather worn out. It is still in my possession and I won't sell it due to the fact that it is so beat up and has sentimental value to it. Like you surfin' mom every couple of years or so I reunite with it. i dont know, i dont like strats too much. they look "boring" and the tremolo arm placement is just a pain in the arse for me when picking on the higher strings. no complainments about the sound though. |

I keep my Jaguar, Tele and Strat out at all times. It's hard to choose, especially since I've kind of modified all of them to be somewhat similar to each other. The Strat with neck/bridge is an awesome tone, I don't know why Fender didn't make that an option from the start. |

Every few weeks I switch between guitars. For the last few weeks I've been playing a Peavey Wolfgang with EMGs. This week it's the Classic Vibe 50's Strat. That will be followed by the Danelectro Hodad. After that, the Classic Players Jag. That's my basic rotation. Sometimes I toss in the rarely seen Eastwood Monolith, just to kick things up a bit. I'm fond of all the guitars, but the Strat covers a lot of bases, and does so very well. |

I have never been a big strat fan.. but recently i traded my 73 SG for a 2001 american strat. I am suprised how much i enjoy playing the guitar.. usually i dont like strats much. Even though this has EMG X pickups (which im actually liking) and a weird red sunburst paint job from the factory.. I think you can go around in cycles of what you like.. who knows in 5 years i might only wanna touch my other SG.. and the strat can sit for years again also:) — |
I now love strats! The only guitar I may move on to could be a Tele with a bigsby, but I've got to sell some of my music stuff before I start buying more.
