Hi, my band Beware the Dangers of a Ghost Scorpion (from Boston) is doing some last minute finalization for our upcoming tour and turns out The Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh has no other bands booked besides us. Any surf/rockabilly bands available and interested in playing there May 31? Or do you know someone to get in touch with? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I will say this. Unless you are hitting on a weekend, expect to have a difficult time finding a band to play with in Pittsburgh. I went through about 25 bands before I found one that would play a weeknight. I was informed that this is par for the course in that town.

Contact Pittsburg Guitars on Carson St. (Legends in daburg). They may be able to help you out.

We would jump on a weekend, but weekdays are indeed rough unless real early shows (working guys have to get up way early)

Yeah, Pittsburgh was our ONLY troubled spot in booking the tour as well. The date was easy enough to get. Finding a 3rd band after Turbosonics was a different story. I was informed that the town really is just not a weeknight town, and the turnout for our Wednesday night show was surely a reminder of that.

I was going to recommend The Turbosonics as well. Realize it's last minute but we are an oldies band and we play a few surf tunes, Beachboys, etc, but mostly late '50s early '60s radio tunes. Check us out if ya have time. Possibility of playing if we get together soon enough. mlcbandcool.webs.com or mlcbandcool@ymail.com

How could anyone NOT want to play at a place called "The Smiling Moose"?!!!
Here in Anniston we have a venue called The Smoking Moose. I wonder if this is the black-sheep cousin of the Smiling Moose?
