California Badass is a great tune - and so fitting for the Deadlies' personality!

BIG NEWS - Coming up on the 4/28 Reverb Hour - an interview with Miles Corbin of the Aqua Velvets.

HELP! Please send me email requests (cousinmary@kfjc.org) for surf songs that feature saxophone for my upcoming special "Sax on the Beach" on the 12th of Mayhem (known outside of KFJC as May). I am especially interested in hearing from bands, including those that do not normally feature sax. Thanks to everyone who has emailed me so far!

Cousin Mary - KFJC.

Gonna listen to the show now, can't wait to hear the interview with Miles.

Special show "Sax on the Beach" is coming up this Saturday on the 12th of Mayhem (known outside of KFJC as May).

LATE BREAKING NEWS!!! I just recorded a 10-minute phone interview with sax player George White of the Tornadoes (Bustin' Surfboards etc.) and will be airing it during this show. Very interesting views of sax in surf music and the early (1962) surf music scene in Southern California.

Mary,
if you want Jim Frias ( of the 60s band the Noctunres)
1 of the 2 sax players.
e-mail me and i will give you his cell or e-mail address
he's got great stories.

The best one, was when he was in the Chantays for a short time,
and how they went about telling him they didn't sax,
and that they wanted to have keyboards only.
Shock

I don't think I want to have more than one interview on just a 2-hour show - want to do lots of music. I will hope to talk with Jim Frias on the air another time.

Thanks for the lead! Mary

Just about to leave for the station - Surf Music with sax tonight (Saturday May 12) from 7-9pm. I think you will be surprised at the variety. The interview with George White will air around 8pm.

Tune in 89.7FM or click on Netcast at kfjc.org or find KFJC under Eclectic on iTunes.

thanks, Coz

thanks for the heads up Mary,
home tonight, and will listen.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Many thanks, Cousin Mary, for featuring 'Train To Nowhere' as the lead-off song. It is one of my favorites that I had compiled onto a custom instrumental Autostereo tape way back a looong time ago. Cool

Hearing it on the "airwaves" again is a real treat just like it was back in '58 or so when surfing and the surf music subculture started taking off.

That was a very enjoyable show with an outstanding variety of sax oriented instrumentals. Thanks, too, for the station providing air check archives (my recorder botched the show intro Uh-Oh ).
