Check out the University Inn. They have a special for $71.00. AND......the evil Surge! dudes are staying there.

On the other hand, I'm staying there too. Is anyone else?

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Yep, The Atom Bumz are booked into the Chapel Hill University Inn. We will be in the lounge playing "Misty".

I'm there.

Nine days away!! I fully anticipate it being more than worth the 15 hour drive to get there! Very Happy Can't wait! Good luck with all the final preparations, Crispy!

15 hours... GUHHH

And here I am dreading 6. hahaha. Thanks for the perspective!!

The good news is: TOTALLY worth it!! Big Grin

We are so stoked - really looking forward to this trip and summit!

A word to bands - please bring me your CD if you would like to have it considered for play on KFJC.

Coz

Looking forward to this year's Summit and sitting in with my old compadres in Killer Filler! Things kick-off at 7:00, but hopefully the PBR will start flowing sooner. They are sponsoring the Summit again, aren't they? Gonna need something to wash down all those quality Utz chips!

I reserved a room at The University Inn so I'll see y'all there Saturday! Let me know where the pre-party is and if anybody wants to share a cab to The Cave?

Playing Sunday @ 8:00 btw.

I'm checking into The University Inn Thursday evening and will check out Monday morning. The car I'm driving (2008 Honda CR-V) can seat 5, including me, if the middle rear person is small or very friendly. Is driving to and from the Inn to The Cave practical or not? I hadn't given needing a cab a thought until seeing this question.

It's less than 5 miles to & fro.

I thought I might have a PBR or two, so kicking around the cab idea. If there's a DD in the crowd that would be cool?

I mean it's not far but if you plan on more than a couple a cab would probably be well worth the $$.

Not to detract from my excitement of all the others coming from outta town too (many other posts already made in the thread from long travel award winners Cuz (& Hub), Noel, the bands and whatnot), but WOAH!!! No foolin'!?! the TUCK too? Awesome!

Gonna be a real nice SG101 huddle going on in Norf Cackalack real soon.

Super Stoked!

I suggest the CAB. The best way to approach three nights of great instro music is to be safe and carefree as possible. Not having to drive opens the door wide open to let the night take you where it will.

KBK offers sage advice!

We're gigging Friday in Wilmington so I can't make it till Saturday afternoon or else I'd be there Friday as well.

Don't forget to show up to our Lunch Jam at the Station on Saturday the 5th; Previously held in the University Inn's Sports Bar, we moved it to the same location as the Rumble Jam so's there wouldn't have to be a double commute.

chris, could you post a google map with the stations location?

Read about The Instro Summit 2012, "America's Biggest All-Instrumental Music Festival!" this month on the North East Surf Music Alliance website at www.nesmasurf.org . Learn about the "22-band, three-day, two venue mega-fest of lyric-free fun and finery" happening May 4-6 in Chapel Hill, NC, instigated by Crispy Bess.

I am hoping that some of you will be attending the Lunch Jam. Last year, I was able to arrange a last minute jam and some of us played in the Carolina Sports bar Inn, another year we took over the side Inn parking lot because the pool side area was still closed. Well, Crispy was able to secure the Southern Rail on Saturday. One thought I had, any band or combo can play 3 tunes to start (band tunes - not performed during the Summit would be nice). I am hoping that any of the Friday nights bands here for the weekend, or warm up's for the Saturday and or Sunday’s band, or just put a super group / combo together, or just come on down and jump right in. Come on down met. greet, drink and chat.

Let me know your thoughts on this, and maybe who’s interested in playing.

Mike – 9th Wave

The Instro Summit Lunch Jam!

One of the Summit’s unofficial events, headed up by 9th Wave and North East Surf Music Alliance (NESMA) members Sandy and Mike Rosado, was to have a little impromptu jam and cocktail session Saturday afternoon with the other Summit bands before the big event that evening. This year, we’ve decided to make it an official get-together, held this year at Southern Rail on Saturday, May 5th. Come meet and hang with the bands playing that evening, enjoy some lunch and a drink, and watch–and maybe join in--as the musicians jam with each other on SR’s Station stage. This runs from noonish until around 2:30, cause we have to make way for another off-Cave extravaganza:

The “Can You Play as Wack’d as Link Wray?” Guitar competition and the Rumble Jam!

Two of the Instro Summits’ most memorable events have now moved over to the Station in nearby Carrboro, since the Cave has returned to a strict “no cover music” policy. First is the “Can You Play as Wack’d as Link?” contest, in which guitarists join the band on stage and try to out-wild each other, performing their versions of the buh-zarre solo from Link Wray’s classic “I’m Branded”, in order to win a suitcase full of Instro Summit merchandise. The other is grand opening of the evening, the “Rumble Jam”, where they try to cram as many guitarists on stage at the same time and have them all play Link Wray’s signature song together in one massive, fuse-blowing wall o’ sound. We’ve previously had no less than twelve guitarists join Phatlynx in the fun. Could they put even more on stage this year? We think so!
Incidentally, these events and Phatlynx’s show are the only free and all-ages part of the Summit weekend, so bring the whole family (along with your guitar and amp) and join in the fun!

Does anyone know anyone at WXYC, the UNC Chapel Hill radio station? I would like to stop by to say hi if that would be welcome.
