Is this something you can share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?!?

Hey Pointbreakspy, I mentioned Wedding Cake Island already but I'm glad someone else knows that one. It definitely got me headed back in the right direction. I was a huge fan of the Oils and met them in L.A., and Santa Barbara during the Diesel and Dust Tour. Their music was punctuated by lots of surfy sounds. Lucky Country!

yeah it's a good song, it intro's the surf report on one of my local radio stations 3 times a day....had to give it a second vote of approval! you know Peter Garret is a Minister of The Australian Federal Parliment now!
The other guys from The Oils got together for some surf project here in australia, when i find it i will post a link...

adam

here's the link to "a celebration of australian surf music" if you go to the sound samples page there is a version of "wedding cake island" done by the atlantics! ..

Cool

SCOTS - Mexy-Melt on Beyond the Beach.

Folks have listed Galley Slave (on Dirt Track Date) and Rumours of Surf on Bikini World.

I suppose also Make Mayan a Hawaiian (DTD).

Maybe Branded on Guitar Ace - Link Wray Tribute.

calexico comes close at times - no time to give it a listen right now though.

The Pixies' Cecilia Ann was allowed, no?

The Sadies have a nice mixture of surf, spaghetti western and country...

Pearl Jam had a tune called "Gremmie Out of Control" that was on their two-disc set that had a lot of surfy licks in it.

That one is actually a surf song, originally by the Silly Surfers which was a Gary Usher studio project.

Just curious Klas, is that a vinyl cover?, have a different one:

How weird. A record based on a series of models, or is it the other way around?

Just curious Klas, is that a vinyl cover?, have a different one:

There were 3 Hawk model kit albums in total. One with the Silly Surfers, one with the Weird-Ohs, and the one you have, where they have one side each with songs taken from their respective albums.

As I understand it, the albums were mainly released to promote the model kits.

Well, I looked and looked but in 3 pages of postings, no-one mentioned my personal fave, an ORIGINAL Surf Song both written and performed by a Non-Surf Band, the all-time classic, to me, "Our Favorite Martian" by the Bobby Fuller Four.

Thanks for the info Klas & Danny, didn't know.

my entry to start this off.....

ON THE MOVE - Dave Clark Five
Very Downey Studios like......all the driving drums and throbbing bass a Surf Song could ask for....and a wailing sax, also. Works for me.

I don't know if anyone ever addressed this example. My DC5 material is limited to Greatest Hits, and it doesn't include this one.

I don't actually have anything by Herman's Hermits, but I can still sing Henry VIII. Well, if you call what I 'm doing singing.
