Happened to be all over the place on youtube this evening and came across a bunch more Original Surfaris songs that had been uploaded in the last couple of months (Psyche Out, Tor Chula, Boardwalk, Vesuvius) But the one that I thought was really rad was this upload of Moment of Truth live, it's audio only, but great quality.

I think this must be as close as we can get to hearing what live surf music sounded like back then.

Back in the 90's, there was a "bootleg" vinyl album by the Original Surfaris entitled "SURFARI" w/ a green & purple cover. I still have it & the songs on the LP are ALL the songs that SUNDAZED did not include on their "BOMBORA" cd. The quality is good & there are some "live" perfomances at the end of the LP. This sounds exactly like what is posted here. I don't have the technology or means to "make a cd" of this, but I'm sure it could be done, and may even have the blessings of Larry Weed & the rest of the Original Surfaris. Just a thought.

That album is still available from Domenic Priore. Google him and get it on vinyl instead of a crappy cd-r!
I've Googled him but all I get are results about his book and The Beach Boys. Perhaps I'm missing something amidst the search results? I'd love to get that vinyl.

As I recall, it's been available for purchase at the last few SG101 conventions. I'm not sure who brings them in. Jeff would know.

I messaged him on Facebook and he responded to me immediately. I would go that route if you've got a profile.

That live version of Moment of Truth is off the hook. Just so damn infectious. A true testement to how great these youngsters were live and why teens used to dance to surf music.

If you don't have this LP, you definitely need it, and by getting in touch with Dominic one way or another (see above) you can mail order it. Of course coming to the SG101 convention is a great idea, too, and you can usually buy it from him there, too, if you can actually find a moment to get into the merch area. At the SG101 convention it is always a question of cutting your losses by figuring out what you are least unwilling to miss.
