I was wondering how can I get close to the sound of the guitar in this video. It sounds like heavy, muted double picked strings with some kind of echo and/or reverb.
My gear is a strat, a fender amp, a TC Electronic Flashback delay and a Hardwire reverb.

Almost sounds like phase shifter on top of the reverb??

Tremolo at high speed and intensity in addition to delay and reverb, my best guess.

I love that song! Supersonic Twist as well. Les Jaguars were a great band. I'd say that you're listening to heavy heavy tape echo - it's all over all their records. The old tape wow/flutter is probably the source of the phasing. Les Jaguars, like most if not all Quebec bands in the 60s, followed more the European sound with echo than the US sound with reverb.

Great track; love it!!
Good point MelWaldorf made; it could be wow & flutter from the tape echo. The other thing is could possibly be is Comb Filtering, which is basically the effect you get when a sound & an audible reflection of the same sound both hit the same point (like a microphone diaphragm) just a few milliseconds apart (same principle Flanging is based on).
That Guitar track sounds like it was recorded fairly loud; if there were any bright reflective sources close by, the reflected sound could be hitting the mic at close to the same volume as the original sound - which would give you comb filtering. If that was the case, then that effect was an accident - but a pretty cool one!!
Keen to hear some more Les Jaguars; did any of their stuff make it onto CD?
