I’m looking to partner with someone (preferably here in the LA area) who has “the knack” for social networking and other online activities such as CD and download sales, website development, general PR, etc. I am convinced that I have barely scratched the surface of my potential in this arena, and that with a more focused effort I should be able to make a LOT more headway in gaining a larger audience. But as my personal internet skills and aptitude are not great, I’m thinking that it would make sense to find someone who knows how to do these things well, and work together with him (or her) at developing them.

I am looking to take my music career to “the next level.” I have no illusions about my chances for accomplishing this through the “old school” mainstream channels; but I can clearly envision a viable pathway to this goal via the www. I have a full catalog of recordings covering 50 years of colorful surf and instro music history; I already have a worldwide fan base, and speaking objectively, I seem to have enough of a reputation in this genre that it should be simply a matter of building on what I have and expanding my audience by expanding my online presence. I can see a number of ways to pursue this, but I also see my need for help in doing so. Accordingly, I hope to find someone to work with who has strong social networking and internet marketing savvy, and a good basic PR sense as well.

If this is you: I trust that as a surf music fan, you have some idea of what I’m all about and thus what the “product” is that you would be dealing in; I am confident that there are a lot of guitar music fans out there (beyond the existing limits of the surf music community) who would be interested in what I have to offer, if only they could be made aware of it. That, in a nutshell, is the goal: to fully exploit the internet in all of its aspects in a campaign to publicize what I do and connect with these potential fans.

If this sounds like something you’d like to do and if you have the requisite talents, then I’d like very much to talk with you about it! (Note — if you can help me succeed at this, there could be some money in it for you through a profit-sharing arrangement.)

Paul I wish you good luck. I just want to warn you though, there are a lot of internet snake oil salesman out there. They go by titles like "SEO expert", "Social Media Guru", etc. But I suppose that has always been the case and you've probably seen your fair share given your time in the music industry. Very Happy

Thanks, Brian. Yes, I'm hip to that; I get spammed every day by hucksters who promise to "up my website traffic," etc. I'm not about to respond to any of these; but here, I am the "solicitor," not the "solicitee". I know there are fake "social media gurus," etc., out there; nevertheless, I'm looking for a real one. Hopefully I can find such a thing here, among friends.
