I was combing through Youtube watching some Bomboras videos and came across this newish video with only 17 views for for, The Sinisters. A spooky surf band from PHX with some members from other bands that I recognize from this forum.
Video description:
"The Sinisters. Spooky surf and rock and ghoul from Phoenix. Featuring members of the the Coconauts, the Incognitoes, the Surfside IV. A demo and movie for fun"
I thought it sounded cool and hope to hear some more. Any addtional info out there?

Yes, this is Matt Overberg's new band. He was in the Surfside IV with me. Actually, he recruited me to join a band called Scubatones and we later became Surfside IV. Or something like that. On bass looks like they have Dave DeStefano (also from the first years of the Surfside IV and now the Coconauts) and maybe his wife (?) also. On drums is John from Blue Moons and Incognitoes.
Matt is a talented musician and songwriter, IMO. If he can keep focus and not wander off, and they can stay together for more than a few months, then they will be pretty good, I should think.

Thanks for the details. I'm a sucker for the spooky organ/reverbed guitar sound. Hope they continue to develop.

Norcal and BTD thanks. Organ player is our pal Bill. Never played with us before. Not the bassists wife.
Without bands that did some organ spooky stuff way before us and halloween disney type stuff we probably would know about this type of thins. Bomboras, Satan's Pilgrims, Ghastly Ones, The Deadly Ones (60s band) Sam the Sham countless cool 60s bands with farfisa or vox or other combo organs. Just done with microsoft movie maker and xp excel which creates black and white images and an analog tape deck. Don't use any modern stuff - this kind of maintains the recorded by tape vibe of the old days. Only modern thing used was movie maker and a early 90s roland sampler
Thanks

The Sinisters will be playing The Sail Inn in Tempe, AZ on Sat. Feb 9th, 2013 (sponsored by the Bomb Squad AZ Car Club, so look for plenty of vintage hot-rods in the parking lot!)

These guys have some new videos posted. It's B-Grade spooky surf, not quite as dynamic or aggressive as the Ghastly's, but the organ really adds some depth to, and completes, the stripped down trad-sound.

The Sinisters are really the only game in town (for now) for surf music here in PHX these days. And, luckily for us, they are good. I really am liking what I am hearing here. Not too surprising, though, as Matt O. is a talented songwriter and an apt guitarist. I hope we hear more from them soon, in terms of a CD or some other studio tracks.

Yeah, they are good, and with the Ghastly One's on hiatus, they're filling the neglected spooky surf void nicely.
