Do you mean that people are posting videos on facebook
now?
or that they are linking back to this thread?
hopefully the later.
lets keep all the videos posted here,
and tell people on F-book to come here to see them.
I think Ted shared it first (it's just a link to a youtube compilation playlist), and a couple shares have resulted. Not exactly wildfire yet, but pretty cool! I went back and inserted a link to this thread in the description for any possible promotion that may result, who knows.

This is what I hate about Facebook,
"it has way more suggestions"
I assume you mean videos there.
yet I can't see them,
would be nice if all the videos were posted here,
and people shared the link (on facebook) to come see them here.
as stated before,
facebook will be the death of discussion forums.
where is the (don't like) button?

Facebook...whatever. When I joined this forum MySpace was the big deal. I haven't really seen a real decline of posting on this forum since Facebook took over. Something else will surely come along that will replace Facebook too. Anyway, back to the videos...

Okay, this one is going waaay back. Released in 1959 here's Caterpillar Crawl by The Strangers. The Lively Ones covered this and their version is not that much different. Feels a bit like Boss by The Rumblers. Dig it!

Noel, all it means is you share the playlist link on Facebook.
I shared it on Twitter:

Hmmm, it seems that isn't the playlist link, just the link to the first video. D'oh.

I just followed the link from the Pilgrims' facebook page where I posted it. There's a "Play All" button and it works fine. Otherwise, I have no idea what Jeff is talking about. It's a youtube playlist. No one can add videos to it from facebook...
Sorry if I overstepped my bounds-I thought it might draw more fans in to SG101...

Nope, I believe no boundaries have been overstepped anywhere, just a little mild confusion.... dang-blasted computers. It's just a quick way to get friends to listen to some of this great music who might not be signed up on SG101 yet. If you want to link to the browseable, non-autoplaying list like Ted did, that would be this one:
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCEB21A24BE6445FF&feature=mh_lolz
The autoplay deal should be this one, it will have the other video thumbnails on the bottom they can select:

By all means spread the word! I think all avenues should be open for people to discover stuff!! Morphball, thanks for putting together the YouTube playlist and Ted thanks for posting it on Facebook.
I gotta say, it's super cool that people upload these rare tracks on to YouTube in the first place. YouTube has to be one of the greatest modern entertainment inventions ever.

It is pretty amazing when you think about it; it's not just the rarity of the tracks, but many even get hold of rare video footage from who knows where to go with it. It's really got to be a labor of love for these cats. And to think there's so many first wave surf freaks out there who never stopped loving it, and probably have no idea about a second or third wave (or SG101) is remarkable. Probably the numbers we see here don't really represent the actual fans out there.

Another amazing band that must be included in this list is The New Dimensions from Beverly Hills, CA. They issued three really great albums starting in '62 but disappeared into obscurity till SUNDAZED released their "Best-Of" in '96. Thank god they did! Popular with hardcore fans but unknown to everyone else these very young teenagers (aged 13 to 16)played some of the toughest surf there was. It's hard to believe lead guitarist Michael Lloyd was around 13 or 14 years old when he recorded this stuff! He also wrote most on the bands originals like these two heavies, Cat on a Hot Foam Board and Failsafe...

However, I'm still having
that weird autoplay issue on Chrome 17.0.963.56 M
though, it just loves playing "Ridin High" every few
songs, until you manually go back and reselect it. Can
anyone else confirm this? I hope it's just me.
Yeah this happened to me also... latest Chrome on Ubuntu. That's very strange, I've never seen it do that before.

Ah, okay... I was concerned the list was somehow corrupt, but I just tried on IE9 and it worked as expected. I'll continue mirroring this great thread, it's been my soundtrack all week!

Well, I know that it is not surf but 60s instrumental or frat rock but I cannot help enjoying it everytime I listen to it. Played by a mexican band called The Sinners it was recorded live in Luis Buñuel's film "Simon del desierto" (actually the vid is the end of the film). Not from the dawn of the surf, but it was the dawn of something somewhere for sure. My 2 cents.

Sorry all, I misunderstood what Noel was saying.
I thought he said people were posting new videos on Facebook, and not here.
