Article from NAMM that mentions the MP-200:

http://local.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=32280186&page=4

Another article from last Sundays invitation only Ampfest in Oceanside. The MP-200 more than held its own among some pretty strong competition. I played a couple of songs through my Showman with Matt Q. on the MP-200, and I thought he sounded better. Talent MIGHT have had something to do with it, but the little amp sounded great.

I signed up for Quilter's "First Fifty" program in early December, but had to pass because of some unexpected expenses that strained my finances to the max. Been kicking myself ever since, especially reading all the reviews from SG101 folks saying how great the MP-200 is. Oh well, if ya snooze ya lose Sigh

Don't worry Stokeman. When the MP-200-12" comes out, I'm going to get one. I'll trade you my "first 50" for that "Hank" model Burns.

Has anyone besides me noted the remark in the Quilter manual on page 15 where they recommend using a Quilter extension cabinet with matching footcups?

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

It's coming Noel!

I'm getting more comfortable with the amp, and liking it even more. Yesterdays outdoor gig in San Clemente got rave reviews from the party crowd and passersby on the sidewalk. I had to schlep my gear across PCH, and belive me-less was MORE!

So, what's coming next? The MicroPro 200-12 or the Quilter 212 extension cab?

Here's a nice presentation/explaination from the Man hisownself.

Just picked up a prototype extension speaker cabinet that the lads were nice enough to whip together for me to use on a couple of surf gigs this weekend. It's a small, light-weight Boogie-sized single 12" loaded with a Celestion G12-80 that the MicroPro sits nicely atop. It sounds HUGE! The closed-back cab with all that clean headroom makes for some serious tight bottom end thunk. The Micro sounds amazingly big on its own, but with this set-up you could, dare I say, rule the world. Can't wait to try it outdoors. Stay tuned....

That proto with a 12 at the Amp Fest sounded huge! I imagine you'll have a similar experience. I have an open-backed Mesa cab with an EVM-12L, but every time I think about taking it to a gig, I lift it and go-NAHHHH! I've gotten spoiled by the light weight and big sound of the combo.

I reviewed my MicroPro 200 at Harmony Central, but they "amended" my ratings. Does anybody know how to edit ones own user review, or contact a Harmony Central administrator? This really ticks me off. I gave Quilter all 4's and 5's , yet HC posted 2's and 3's.

Those of you in the North-East now have an opportunity to play a Quilter MicroPro-200. With the cooperation of Chris Di Pinto, I've dropped mine and the 6-function foot controller off at Di Pinto Guitars in Philadelphia, PA, to be available to try out for several weeks.

It is NOT for sale; just to demo.

Di Pinto Guitars ( http://www.dipintoguitars.com/contact.php ) is located at 407-409 E. Girard Avenue, in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, just off Rt 95. The hours of operation are: Monday - Saturday 12:00 - 7:00 pm, closed Sunday.

Their telephone number is 215-427-7805

If you've always wanted to try out the MicroPro-200, here's your chance. And please leave your feedback.

Oh, and by the way, while there I played their brand new Surf Green/White Pearl Galaxie 4. Through my Quilter MP-200 amp the surf tones were oceanic.

Noel, you're a good guy. Did the Di Pinto sound different from the others you've played through the MicroPro?

I've played a Cort Source-BV (original P90-type pickups and strings), CIJ Jazzmaster (Duncans and 12 flats), CIJ Jag (stock pickups but 11 flats) and MIM Strat (stock pickups and 11 flats but modified switching and complete Callaham setup) through my MP-200. They each sound great in their own way.

Right off the bat, the first series of barre chord changes I played from the opening of Walk, Don't Run just killed me. The amp was set the way I use it at home and the combo was terrific. They go very well together. I let Mike Tomaszewski from Di Pinto take over so I could listen and make a few tweaks. He made it sound better than I can. (He wants one now.)

The Galaxie 4 has an almost endless variety of tone possibilities, from dark and moody to bright and ringing. IMHO this guitar can probably stand in successfully for Telecasters, Strats and Jaguars without blinking an eye. It might take some time to find Mosrite and Jazzmaster-like sounds (not that they're similar) but I wouldn't be surprised if it could. Really versatile guitar. And its Surf Green/Silver Pearl looks can kill.

Oh, and the guitar is very comfortable to play, like a Fender offset, and the neck is similar enough to mine that I didn't notice any functional difference. All-in-all an impressive guitar.

Got this e-mail today, very stoked about this.

Not only is Quiltar audio providing the PA for the SG101 convention.

Quilter Labs would like to donate a MicroPro 200 12" combo amp with foot controller and soft cover to the SG101 convention for the raffle. The amp has a retail value of $999. It would be great to have this added to the list of prizes on the website.

Here's a photo and link to our website for details about the amp.
