I remember there was a forum on the old Bambi Molesters site where they talked about their gear, even string gauges and all that gear head stuff, but if I admired Dinko for his playing now I admire him twince for his amp building, for me thats the top notch musicmanship.

On "A Night in Zagreb" I'm using Vox AC 30 non top boost model from 1962. (all original with tubes from late 60s:)) Dinko is playing his own amp which is basically Magnatone. He managed to find some rare parts for it so it sounds like original. Great amp. Both of us are using Fender Reverb Units. Fender amps on stage are actually back up

That thread relates to a performance after they
released their last album "As The Dark Wave Swells" two
years ago. I don't know if that's the amp Dinko used on
"A Night In Zagreb"---just to be clear. I'm sure if
Dalibor sees this, he would be happy to tell us about
the gear.

I wrote before about how film-noir the DVD feels. I just conducted the most amazing (to me) experiment. I started playing the DVD and then started playing The Big Combo without sound. Wrong Turn started just as a girl gets chased through the darkly lit halls beneath Madison Square Garden. The music fits perfectly. Uncanny.
Try it yourself. Your timing may vary. The opening credits of both films are captivating.
I forgot to mention that Lee Van Cleef is one of the men chasing the girl. How perect is that?
Enjoy.

Wonderful tones. So now I understand where Dinko gets this wild vibrato. And both guitars - such a crunchy, crispy overdrive, so very tasteful.

Thanks for the gear update, Dalibor.
Having built one of my own amps (a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone), I can appreciate getting "that sound" from something you've put together yourself. I think it's especially cool that Dinko went with a Magnatone design.
You guys both get such great guitar sounds - so clear and well-defined, but not squeaky clean. There's just the right amount of edge when you dig in.

Does anybody have any photos of this? I've hoped that mine would have been in the mailbox now for a few days, judging by the times others received their's and still nothing.

I got an iTunes giftcard and downloaded the audio version. Just got through the first half. Absolutely great stuff! It's cool that they included some material from The Strange.

I visited Belgrade this summer and asked for surf music in a big record store. They immediately recommended this record.
It's truely spectacular
The sound and the noir-styling is just perfect!
