I just put this on after years of not listening to it. What a really cool album. Brian was never one to use too many riffs/melodies in a song, yet managed to keep the songs sounding great. Reid Diamond's bass playing and tone really anchors the band.
They were indeed an excellent band! and Canadian!

I agree - great album, great band. I've been a devotee of SMOASP for longer than I care to think about and I really like Brian's other projects as well.

The Atomic 7 are great. I just hope Brian puts out some more recordings!
It seems to me that there are some strong tunes on Sport Fishin' and some unusual ones. I wonder how much they had written before the studio and how much was made up when recording. The interlude pieces are interesting bits. I wonder how much input Steve Albini had?

I know they've taken a Christmas break, and I don't think they'll be returning until next year. They usually start after labour day and go to xmas. They play the indoor patio at the back of the Cadillac Lounge in Parkdale Village Toronto (Queen West and Dufferin) They start at 7-730 an play until the friday night show booked start up in the main bar

I try to not let me bias myself if bands are from Canada.
I'm just joking, seriously
thanks for the reminder on this,
I've been meaning to break out all of their stuff.
Haven't listened to it, in far to long.

I always liked their version on Mecca, which they call 13 on the album.
It's one of those vocal songs that translates really well as an instro.

We covered that song quite a while ago. Actually did a nice jog I thought.
