Seems like 2012 would be a good time for episode 14.
So what are the 'origins' of Surf music anyway? (apart from surfin' that is?). Seems like it should have some origins (the way rock'n'roll has origins in blues etc). (Or is that line of thinking too 'linear')
Sure be interesting to hear what other people think these are.
BTW I love listening to the previous 13 on my iPod Lady Reverb! - Really good for work-life balance (at work) or just any ole time.

Good idea. Paul Johnson (what happened to pjmoto.com?) had a list of his influences. Duane Eddy (big for Eddie Bertrand, too), some Link Wray, Ventures, Fireballs---and another band I can't remember.
Perhaps throw in some popular 50's tv/movie themes...this one would take a bit of "scholarship" but would be a great listen.

In the meantime you can check out Ace Records "Birth of Surf" compilations, volumes 1 and 2.
