Hi there,

Here's a video by Spaceguards: "Stoner Bay".
Wonder what you guys think of it...

Spaceguards is a band from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They did supports for Dick Dale, the Trashmen and The Phantom Four, and played the 2010 North Sea Surf Festival (Great surf festival on the North Sea shore. Go there if you can!)

Welcome to SG101 Astrogator!

I like the heaviness, and yet there is enough quality reverb there for my personal tastes. More surf than stoner, but definitely a very healthy mix of both.

Must be some "heavy" in the air on that side of the pond... New-ish band Threesome are getting some attention here too. A future double dose of heavy Euro surf on one bill some day?

Dude! Yes Oakster-surf!

I like it ! A lot ! Sounds to me like some early instro Sonic Youth. And we're neighbours so I can hope to catch you in a near future !

Like it! Frozen fingers on the video shoot but worth it.

It's pretty good, but there's nothing inherently stoney, or surfy about it. My first thought was that it would be a good back track for the Oasis' singer to sing over.

I agree. It is a good high energy rock song. Thanks for sharing it.

Oh please, NO ! Not Oasis' singer ! We're more into 90's alternative music here not britpop... (ok I admit : I hate Oasis)

I like it. Good drive to the drums. I especially like the way the Mustang sounds.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

isn't the use of a capo on a Stratocaster as sure indicator of "stoney-ness". Additionally, I think one must be stoned in order to drag all of the band's amps and drums (and all the camera and sound gear) up to the roof in the dead of winter in order to make an "instrumental music video"...Dude, totally!

Capo? I thought that was some device to hold his weed.

I'm pretty certain that is an Oasis progression, played nearly the same. I can't think of which song right now...

Liam sucks, Oasis was awesome when Noel was singing. The song I am thinking of, I think it was from the Heathen Chemistry album, one of the songs the new guy from Ride wrote. I think...

I don't remember doing this. Was I that stoned back then? I don't remember. Big Grin Seriously, are there two of me? Laughing I'm really sorry about this post, and I should've resisted harder, but I couldn't.

Disclaimer: I hope nobody minds this nonsense too much. It's a joke! I bear no resemblence to the Noel to whom Jake referred.

Dude, I know you are Noel Gallagher. Don't even try to deny it. Your new solo album is really good!

Some things never change. I'm still not getting any royalties. Laughing

Well.. thanks, all of you, for the kind words and the warm welcome at Surfguitar 101! I can relate to all your replies, I also like Sonic Youth, 90's alternative music, bean burrito's, Oasis (actually just a couple of their songs, but both brothers are invited to add vocals), and I love Ride.

Spaceguards will release it's debut EP in February. I will post some more video's in the next couple of weeks.
