By Husky and the Sandmen.

They could be Finnish by the look of the names of the band members.

Nicely recorded, not so heavy on the surf but plenty of european style instro's. Is there an official genre for this style of music ?

Reminiscent of Laika & Cosmonauts due to the use of the organ, it kept reminding me of the The Avengers, a british tv show of the 60's.

Anyway it's good listening.

Is this band a instro group who do theme albums or are they "serious" students of surf ?

There is some nice clanky guitar on some tracks, the album says fender guitars, so is it a Strat, Jag or Jazzmaster ?

And where do they surf in Finland anyway ?

You and I have very similiar tastes!

I have this CD also, and it is one of my favorites. I would have to disagree slightly, I think it is more surfy than you perhaps. The use of reverb and the rhythm guitar sound very surfy to me. Its a really great CD with some very inspired moments on it.

They had a website years ago. I searched for it recently and it was gone. I found a reference to the bass player on another website for a rockabilly band. He listed himself as "Ex-Husky & The Sandman" so I suppose they are broken up. A damn shame.

Its funny, I don't recall an organ, but I remember a sax. I'll have to go listen to that again.

I think they have another CD also..."Arabian Nights" or something...their first one. I have not heard that one.

They're Finnish.

From Helsinki.

They put out a few killer 45s on the Goofin record subsidiary label Gas Records.

You can still get their two cds straight from Goofin'

I love, LOVE this album! I think it's amazing. I don't think it sounds that much like Laika & the Cosmonauts - maybe their first two albums, but not like their more recent stuff (Instruments of Terror on). Yeah, there's some organ, but the guitars are heavily reverbed, unlike L&TC, and the songwriting is much more traditional surf.

I think I remember them playing mostly Jags and maybe a Jazzmaster (I'm not at home now so can't check the cover of the CD).

Anyway, any fans of trad surf would really like this album, I guarantee it. Pick it up if you can.

What everyone else said. I couldn't get into their first album too much, but this one's pretty amazing. The first song alone is jaw-dropping enough to make it a mandatory purchase.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

When i got it and a few years after I really liked "Arabian Nights".
I have to go back and listen to it again.
I have alot of cd's I need to listen to again.
