Your tastes never cease to amaze me, Ryan. That album is an amazing document that when Western Swing was thought dead, it was actually reaching its most musically sophisticated pinnacle at the little 23 Culb in Brisbane CA. Thank goodness Vance captured some of it.

Thanks websurfer! Yeah, Jimmie Rivers was a very sophisticated player. He was pretty heavily influenced by jazz greats like Barney Kessel and Charlie Christian from what I've read. Some of the best western swing guitar ever recorded IMO.

The TakeOffs "Blue Avalanche", a "semi-final" mix of the Men of Mystery's CD of Shads covers and a compilation by The Agents that Ron Rhoades sent me. All outstanding stuff. After 2 days of clean, fun waves and gorgeous weather, I'm stoked and in aural paradise!
