I'll be there, and at the Tonga Hut for the Glasgow Tiki Shakers.

I'll try to make the hut, but I got a lot going on today. i will for sure be at the Venturesmania show though.

bump for tonight

Tremendous show at Joe's tonight. Nokie was outstanding, and Venturesmania, ditto. Venturesmania opened (less Nokie) and did a nice set of mostly the more obscure tunes from the Ventures catalog. Every member of the band played lead guitar on at least one tune, including drummer, Chris Sprague. Mosrites were everywhere, and the back line of Blonde-Brownface Fender Showmans was drool inducing.

Nokie joined the band for the second set, and played all the leads. He playes better than most "stars" half his age, and makes it look so easy.

It was nice to see a good number of SG101'er's in the house. A lot of videos and audio recordings were made of the show. Hopefully we'll see some here.

Great afternoon (Glasgow Tiki shakers in N. Hollywood) and evening (Nokie & Venturesmania) in the SF Valley. If only I had been able to work Slacktone (Long Beach- afternnon) into the mix as well.... Maybe next time?

Just ordered a box of CDs from Deke. We should have this in sometime next week. Can't wait to hear it!

Supertubos - The Fourth Drive CD

Great show! Hearing Nokie play "Black Sand Beach" was a big highlight for me. The boys are all great and my bud Garrett playing "He never Came Back" is always a treat.

I continue to be amazed at how quickly vid's make the interwebz.

Just found Penetration from last night's show.

Cool! Nostalgia be damned, I really like VenturesMania! I like the fact that they are staying true to the 'Live in Japan' sound and tempo.

Last night was a blast. Venturesmania was a lot of fun and played so many great songs, and Nokie still has it. Whatever that stuff is that music legends have, he definitely still has it. Cool

And its always nice to see & hang out with the SG101 crowd.

I had a great time.
Good to see some SG101ers there.
Especially Matt S. and and Bob S. from Nor. Cal.
and Doug from Reno.

Not to belittle the great Nokie Edwards,(it is always cool to see the legends, get up and play)

I really enjoy the opening set if the Venturesmania band by them selves.
and seeing them, made me remember them coming and doing a short 20 min.
or so set, at the Eddie Bertrand benefit show last Feb.
here is them doing Pedal Pusher from that show, (not this past sat.)

You Southern California guys have ALL the fun! I really like this band, and for us "Mosrite watchers" it must be sensory overload to see these guys up close.

Not only that Rob,
but Deke had a little Mosrite exhibit of about 12 or so guitars,
to the right of the stage.

That would have been worth the price of admission right there, with being able to see Nokie play an added bonus. My Hallmark Custom 60 is possibly as close as I may ever get to a real Mosrite (although "never say never"). I call it my "All-mosrite". Big Grin

Rob,
do you know about the Guitar Geek fest that Deke does in Jan.?
http://www.dekedickerson.com/guitargeek/index.htm

he does it every year, and has about 100 or so guitars, oddities, and etc.
on display on the right side of the room,(quite the sight)
besides an amazing show.

so besides the 2 night Deke Guitar Geek show(fri. and sat.),
I will be doing a Sun. Winter Surf fest(need to post info soon)

Perfect weekend to come down, and soak in a bunch of guitar instro music,
besides the SG101 convention weekend in Aug.
